Whoops! Yeah there wasn't much weight there but good to know. I am sure I won't have anything else to tow until 500.

Simply put, no. At 5 on your trailer brake controller gain, empty trailer, your tires should lock up on the trailer.

I have to keep my controller (past and present, one was a prodigy, other is integrated from GM) on 1.5-2.0 on my 2900 lb trailer empty. Anything more than that empty and I smoke the trailer tires.

So I guess the post I have been reading about the integrated brake controller are true then, because it would not lock them up even on 10. Guess I'm going to have to figure something else out, I'm hauling 4klbs on this trailer in a month for an 800 mile round trip. Having the trailer braking properly would be nice.

This is what I bought it for... It towed it fine and you know it was pulling heavy... but the squat is way too harsh. We could have moved the tractor back a bit but it will not be hauled again without the airbags installed... won't be hauled again until the 50 hr break-in service. 20' 10,000 lb hauler, 2017 Mahindra 2538 TLB, 6' shredder deck and pallet forks. This is just about the limit, I think!

4WheelParts has the airbags in stock here in Austin... just waiting for my order to be ready for pickup. Oh, and it came with a free portable air compressor. I also used a 5% off code...

Looks good but you made need a W/D hitch on that thing. Little saggy in the rear. How did it tow ?

I have a equalizer that I used when I towed with my Grand Cherokee. I was hoping not to need one with the Tundra. I did a 5-mile loop or so just to test it out prior to taking it to Yosemite next weekend. Barely felt like anything was back there when compared with the Jeep. I am surprised that it is saggy in the back. Maybe a trick of the shadows? When I looked at it in person I didnt notice any sag. I expected this trailer to be nothing for the Tundra. It is only 3800lbs dry.

I use a LDH for sway control, not necessarily leveling. My last trip out, I was really glad to have it due to wind over the 3000 miles.

If you still have the LDH, I would utilize it, even though you are under the required rating. However, it may be a bit overkill and you might need to just get a feel for it. Might just tow like a champ. My current TT, I wouldn't leave home without the LDH, regardless of truck size or rating.

The key to setting up your W/D hitch is taking measurements front & rear on the truck fenders before the trailer is hooked up and getting them very close back to that point once the trailer is installed. Not trying to school you on hitch install, I've just seen to many hitches set-up incorrectly, even from a dealership. Like Chris stated, very least use it for the sway control. Happy camping Jordan ! :bananadance:

Thanks man. I was planning on taking it to the RV dealer. When they configured it for my Jeep they told me how much of a bitch it is. I will probably let them do it again. I will take some measurements prior to having them install so I can double check their work.

It really isn't hard Jordan. Need some big wrenches for the hitch, but if you don't have the original instructions you can print online. Either way once the hitch is set up correctly it does wonders for towing. Be safe, have fun on your Yosemite adventure.

Pulled the camper to Yosemite today. Was averaging 12.1mpg until I got to the hills. Dropped all the way down to 8.9.

I pulled a 2010 Mazda 3 hatchback on a U-Haul auto transport trailer. The experience made me love this truck even more. It was so easy. 280 miles through the mountains between western Pennsylvania and northern Virginia, and it never struggled. I averaged 14.8 mpg for the trip which included the drive up without the trailer and the drive back towing. That didn't seem bad at all.

I'll be towing this (or one just like it) from Long Beach, Ca. to La Paz, Baja, Mexico and back next month for the Baja 1000. Expect a report and occasional updates (where there's wifi) about how my stock Tundra tows on Mexican roads and how the team I'm on does. And the trailer does have brakes, so that's a plus.
