a co-worker bought a used 2014 Tundra and we were chatting (I mean working ;) if the boss is reading) and I mentioned about Tundra having a plastic Fuel tank skid plate (vs. my Tacoma steel) ...
He says his engine skid plate is plastic also!
I am considering selling him my engine skid plate and buy a TRD with oil filter access.
he said he can take the plate off and on under 5 min. and doesn't mind the plastic since he doesn't do any major off-roading!

we have 2 small SUVs with plastic engine skid plate also. we were curious and searched online and didn't find any plastic engine skid plate for Tundra.

have you guys seen one? was wondering if the previous owner had a custom build or made one himself.

I have not seen a plastic one. Maybe they come like that in the base model with no TRD off road package upgrade. Have you looked in toyota.com?

Get the RCI instead of the Pro skid.

Steel is stronger. And I would like to say I bought it because it's stronger... but I bought it because it was cheaper. :anonymous: Aluminum is much lighter though... I think it's a trade off.

Well, Superman is called the man of steel for a reason. Man of Aluminum just doesn't sound right.
