I dig it, may need to do that one once I get my bed spray lined. Did you use self tapping screws?

Nope, just used the screws that came with it. Made small pilot holes (7/32 I believe, that was the smallest I could go without having to use self tappers) and screwed em in. Going to line the ends and the other side where the screws came out with some silicone. But it's solid as can be and if it eventually comes loose, I'll just slap some bolts on them and call it a day. But seems like they ain't going anywhere

Make sure you sweep out ALL the metal shavings or they'll rust and stain your bed line. Trust me....

I haven't installed a bottle opener on the Tundra yet, it's too hot right now. This one's on my old truck. When I was quite young, my Dad put a bottle opener on the back of his pickup. We'd have family get-togethers and the kids would have to hunt down an adult to open a soft drink, then the adults would have to hunt down the opener. After that, everyone knew where the opener was. It's hard to misplace a '47 Chevy pickup. Oddly, I don't remember getting canned drinks until the '70s. Maybe it was just my family's preference.

The screws go through the aluminum into threaded holes in a 4" by 4" steel plate that's 1/4" thick. It's what I had on hand when I installed the opener. I don't think the screws will pull out. The lid of the toolbox overlaps the top screw.

I'd forgotten about this thread. Here's the opener on the Tundra.

I've had plenty of experience with metal shavings!! Just got my blower and blew the crap out of my bed afterwards!! Good looking out!!

Nicely done!! I have bottle openers in my BAMF corner ties but then all the caps collect in the corner. You have the easy access and cleanup!

Thanks brother!! I have to have easy access! Most of my family doesn't even reach 5'8" and I call my uncle "uncle Rex" he can't even reach over the bed wall to get anything (cause of his short arms) LOL I'm an asshole, but that's why I did this to make up for it. Doesn't mean I'll ease off on the razzing though

Cool mod, but not for me. I don't remember the last time I had to use the bottle opener.

I had to get this since I'm a big fan of craft beer. It's all I drink nowadays except for the occasional whiskey. For some reason a few years back I suddenly couldn't stomach the taste of canned beers. I can't remember the last time I drank beer out of a can.

Did a little bed work... Had to step this mod up a bit. Removed the opener, drilled and fitted a 3mm blue LED through the bed wall, reinstalled the bottle opener. The rocker switch is for the bed lights

    Bottle openers are everywhere!

Belt buckle, wedding ring, wrenches, table tops, a well anchored nail, etc.
this just looks awesome, a great conversation piece, and functions like a champ!
