Just started my camper build. Step one figure out why the shell is leaking. I purchased some butyl rubber to fill in gaps. I've identified 6 places where water comes in. The drains on front side of the bed are easy. Going to just fill them with black silicone. I'll keep the holes on the bottom because if water does get in I want it to be able to drain. For the gaps on the side of the rails, I put some butyl rubber in this weekend and blasted it with a hose and that seemed to get it all. The window annoys me because it leaks like crazy. Took a shot with this today to try and create a drip edge https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B6FS28QG?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details.

I did take it out this past weekend. Low-tech leak protection:
    01NoLeaks.jpg
This isn't what I am going to end up with the build, I just wanted to make it work. The platform is 3 1x8s, with 1x4s along the edge for support.
    02Breakfast.jpg
Extra plywood cutoffs for a make-shift drawer.
    03CapLeaks.jpg
All the identified leaking areas above.
    04sleepingplatform.jpg
Pretty solid for a quick and dirty build. Big enough to put a 6" foam mattress on top.
    05woods.jpg
    Success.

Well, like @2006Tundra, I "did a thing" today. Had to, before I lose all my damn slush fund on this freaking remodel. Discount code only helped ease the burn of shipping and tax, but ... whatever. I'll take Elka coilovers for $850.

I wasn't willing to spend $400 on their Boss Aluma shocks, and wasn't going to spend $360 on Icons. Weird how the Boss kit is just Elka stuff, the coilovers seem to have much more significant discount than the shocks.

Why not get creative and make a thicker rubber piece to the gasket on the existing one? Or maybe double up on the existing one?

For a $12-$15 gas cap, not sure the effort would be worth it. We had the meth-head's house behind us condemned and demolished, so nobody steals my gas anymore, and I don't park outside anymore nowadays because this truck actually fits in the garage, so ... I don't deal with that problem anymore.

Don't get me wrong, I've thought about converting to a locking cover, or even retrofitting a push button release system, adapting parts from other models. But that's a job waaaaaaaay at the end of the list right now.

Put a locking gas cap on mine several years ago and it's been fine. No issues. Damn, i probably shouldn't have said that.

Bumpers done. Well, at least until I hunker for the winch. Though I need to figure out a front plate bracket.

DSC for the fox coilovers. Unrelated to the bumper. I think that’s what I’m rubbing when the wheel is full turned. Taking it wide for now.

Ooooooh, how much did that run?

I'm planning on just adding an aftermarket light harness to crackie fir fog lights anytime. The only thing that makes them fogs is location, right? Lol

Agreed! That's one of my favorite parts too. I have looked into one of the truck boots, which would close the gap that I have between the cab and the shell, but haven't really found anything. It also makes it easy to go from the cab to the bed and grab things from the cab if I need them.

On very cold nights, I've used rolled up towels to work as a "boot" in between the camper shell and cab, it worked okay to insulate. I guess towels are nice because they can serve multiple purposes. The inflatable boots wouldn't work for me personally. In cold weather I seal the gap with towels, drop the front window and ran a Mr. Buddy heater in the truck cab and it would get very warm inside the shell.

What bumper did you go with?

So you replaced that part in the pic (integration relay?) and now the lights are back to normal? So it did end up burning something up in there?

BFF F&R. Do my oval fogs go to you? Someone had dibs on them.

so I think my headlights were still toast before the swap but, and this is truly pathetic, I apparently did not have the harness connected to the Oem socket until after I swapped out the integration relay. So I didn’t get a clean before vs after test.

    Less abbreviations more words pls

I've got an extra set thanks to @KNABORES. Turns out my fog light wasn't bent but my bumper is. I would totally take the whole bumper off your hands if you weren't on the other side of the country though.

Ah. So I guess now @Mr.bee needs to get an integration relay and then see what that does. Guess this harness will have to be by special request only in order to keep from anyone with DRL from ordering it.

    I nuked the harness.

@Mr.bee i will send you a new part or my old part, just depends on how much you want to tinker. I bet it’s one small part which blew up.

So the harness I have from you should work on the V6 as it doesn't have DRLs? I have no clue what I did with it though... maybe that's a good thing. Any ideacwhat went wrong?

This is one of the options from SNUGTOP. I bought the shell used, it came that way. The Gas Struts are a real nice touch:

That's a good idea. I will try that next time. I guess I'm less concerned with the insulation right now, and more with the water leaks, at least minimizing them to keep my mattress from getting wet. The towels are a good idea, though, for warmth and I like the Mr. Buddy in the cab as an idea too. I'm going to play around with it today.

I didn't realize this until later, but when I got my kit I got aluma shocks, because I thought the 5100s weren't up to par with the front. I sure could use some 5100s out back to match the front....

Honestly unsure. But I believe @Mr.bee ran into the same trap. I have the headlight diagrams from Caribe and they are different for DRL vs no DRL. It’s definitely not worth the risk I think. But you could prove the fog connector pinouts with headlights off, park, low and high to see what signals are where. Or I could sometime. I’m guessing power to ground in my truck that melts one of the circuits.

I’ll take mine apart on the bench unless Mr.Bee wants it intact to investigate himself on our behalf.

@bmf4069 Ill review my DM’s on the fogs. I thought @NickB_01TRD was in line for them but pretty sure whoever I sent a taillight to.

@RUSTYNUTS , sliders went on a number of months ago. Nice to have all 4 sides done as far as metal goes. Lots of lighting and electrical work still tbd. And air tank / compressor.

@empty_lord Ill grab a photo of the Mr Marv sub box I picked up last night. It’s pretty.
