It’s been a few months and won’t go away. It’s affecting any type of curl, no matter how much lighter I try to go. Maybe lay off a week or two from any direct bicep work? I will also feel it (somewhat) when picking up plates for an incline BB and such.

I’m sure you looked up all the symptoms, causes, and cures.

Had it twice now and after repetitive motion like a day on the MX track or holding a drill all day:

    -Massage forearm muscle.
    -Ice
    -Rest.

The first time I was in denial. I was 21 and let it go for too long. It took months of PT, ultrasonic therapy, and cold compress (6 months to feel good, about 10 months full recovery). Damn was that painful and it got so bad it was difficult to even write with a pencil.

Second time I noticed what was happening and took care of it myself. 5 weeks and I was back to taking things slowly again.

Good luck Sean. I understand what kind of pain you might be in…and it blows.

@T-Rex266 I sure do hope it’s not a detached lower biceps tendon, which can happen when curling and possible hyperextension. I was wakeboarding, the line went slack and my dumbass didn’t let go. Heard/felt a pop when the line tightened back up, and when I tried to go again, no way, no strength in my arm. Then the dull but constant pain started when trying to use my arm with any weight. You can tell if it is this because your bicep muscles will retract into your upper arm, and it’ll look like you have a tumor where your upper arm meets your shoulder. Also, there would be an incredible amount of bruising. I’ll be praying this isn’t the case for you, but if it is, see a doctor IMMEDIATELY. The quicker you get the procedure done, the better chance of successful and permanent reattachment. If reattachment doesn’t happen, your other muscles will partially compensate, but you’ll permanently lose at least 50% of strength in your arm. Good luck man!!

I think I’m going to go get it massaged today. I hate PT, as I’ve never had good luck with any of it

I know. Was hesitant to even post about it. Not all PT centers are the same either. This last one I went to was probably the worst I have ever been. Will not be returning to that one at all.

I would definitely recommend massage and ice for a couple weeks and see how it goes. Muscle went into self protect mode and those little tears in the joint hurts like hell.

Hold your affected arm straight out in front of you, palm down, fingers pointed straight out.

Use the index finger of your other hand to “hold down” your middle finger of the affected arm.

Push fairly hard to try to “lift” your middle finger against the force of the index finger of the other hand trying to hold it down.

If the pain in your elbow immediately spikes, it’s very likely lateral epicondylitis, tennis elbow. Go see an orthopedic surgeon for confirmation.

I’m not a medical professional but I have had this countless times in both arms and have had the cortisone shots, surgery, and PT for it. Take what I say with a few grains of salt.

When I have it, I feel the pain right where the common extensor tendon connects to the lateral epicondyle. I felt it on the outside of the elbow, so to speak.

One test they always do is grip strength. Does it seem lower in your affected arm?

Elbow pain is rough to mend and often spreads. Through sports, racing, and lifting my right elbow hasn't been right in over a decade. Ovulsion fracture occurred almost 10 years ago and it just never wants to heal. I took off 2 months from the gym and all labor activity after my wrist got rebuilt....first day back in the gym and it was just like before. I wear a tennis elbow brace when I go heavy now and it seems to help..but it's always there.

Thats exactly where mine is from years of competitive weightlifting, hang gliding, aviating, and cutting firewood. My 18” chainsaw for 3 days straight did me in a few years back and I couldnt even lift a cup of coffee with that arm. My ortho surgeon said its an ‘odd spot but tennis elbow’ and recommended an ice block massage and rest when it acts up. I have little paper cups of ice in the freezer and when it gets irritated I massage it hard af with one of the ice blocks, compress wrap, elevate, and give it a day or two. He did a couple of cortizone shots but it came right back, said surgery wasnt a guarantee either so I left it alone. Have had to ease up on the curls and presses :notsure:

I went and had both forearms / biceps massaged. It wasn’t a sport masseuse, as I wanted something now, and today. It’s still there, but not as noticeable. I wonder if it’ll kick back up today.

Small update: still feeling good since the massage. Wonder if it just needed a really good (30 min) hard work on and needs to rest for a week before any direct work.

Get yourself a lacrosse ball. Put on counter top, table, desk or against a wall and work it over your entire forearm (both sides) as well as bicep. Do it a couple times a week for a month then look for a stretching routine on YouTube. Wear that bandit as suggested above if you need to do something that will aggregate it.

Just an update: forearms are still feeling around 70% better. I am going to skip any direct bicep work this weekend and grab another 30 min massage directly to the forearms and biceps to help break down / stretch some of this tissue out to see if it will resolve it
