Is the mirror switch on dash suppose to light up like the rest of the switches?

I dont care about lighting the adjustment but it would be nice to light the folding switch. We live out in country so driving up lane to garage is dark. I'm thinking might wire a small dim led and place it on plastic bevel above the switch.

I've heard the reasoning for it is that it's a safety thing. They don't want to encourage mirror adjustment while driving. Also heard it was a cost cutting measure.

I do wish it was illuminated. I am often reaching down for it in the dark when I power fold my mirrors, and I have to feel around for it. Makes no sense to not have it illuminated.

I also wish the cruise control stalk was illuminated.
