My apologies if this has been clearly been answered on other threads, I have read conflicting info so I decided to post. i have a 2021 platinum, I bought trd pro take offs (bbs forged 18”) with the oem sensors. In order to save me $ I decided to keep those oem sensors, and add them to my 2021 though the autel ts508 tool, in which I uploaded the trd pro sensors to my ecu. Now note that the guy that sold me the wheels claims these are from a 2021 however with the autel tool I can only find the sensors when I select 2019-2020. After uploading new sensor codes I drove the truck for 20 miles to keep having the tpms dash light continuously flash.
i did try holding down the tpms button until it stopped. Haven’t driven it yet but still no reading. Am I doing something wrong or are these straight up incompatible with my truck?

Note I also tried the cloning my original wheel sensors but I could not program the trd pro sensors.

If they are 2019 sensors, chances are they wont work.
I also bought PRO take offs and the seller claimed they were from a 21 but his truck was clearly a 19.
This worked in my favor as I was able to buy the PRO wheels, tires, lugs and the FOX suspension plus more with only 6k miles for $1700.
I recently had a screw in the center tread of my tire and the warranty I have, replaced the tire rather than fix it. When they took it off, they said there was not a TPMS sensor. (not a big loss since I cant use them anyway)
Aftermarket does not work well with Toyota either, or at least it can be a gamble if you want to take that risk.
There are numerous TPMS options for the 21 as well, so you would need to confirm which one you have prior to ordering new ones if you chose to go that route.
For now, I am living with the light on, but eventually I will have the OEM sensors swapped over to the PRO wheels.

Unfortunately, Toyota does not make this easy and even if you do have all the correct parts, it can be a pain to calibrate when you rotate tires etc...

Keep us posted on what you do and how everything goes.

    Alot of them
Yes, they are a pain period when it comes to getting the truck to read them....whether its replacing them or rotating tires. I rotated tires about 2,000 miles ago and they still aren't reading. As far as the 508 only reading them as 19-20, that is common. The software in the tool doesn't match up perfectly to Toyotas software when it comes to release dates.

Holy crap what a steal! Good for you man. I paid 2000 with fresh 295 AT tires and I thought I had a decent deal.
So far no success after holding down the tpms reset button and driving a few miles around town. Will try to upload to ecu again tomorrow, cloning my originals didn’t work since I can’t seem to “write” to the tpms sensors that are installed. I’ll post tomorrow with results

What a bummer man that sucks. I got rid of a Ford and got the yota thinking everything is much better with Toyota…at least the Ford didn’t give me tpms pain (it did leave me more painful tranny problems)

Royal pain! I believe the correct TPMS part number for 2019-2021 Platinum is 4260706030 BUT ask as many parts departments as possible to verify.

If you live near a discount tire or similar, if you pull up in the check air line they can switch your TPMS (or attempt to) for free on the spot. May be worth a try. I would have to think the sensors would not be different between those years in function.

Even asking the dealer is no guarantee since there are so many part numbers for these that varied depending your options and trim of the truck.
The only way to tell for sure is to pop the bead and look at the current sensor that was oem or scan it possibly.
I am pretty sure I would need 42607-02050 for my 21 Limited, but I am not 100% positive since I have not popped the bead to confirm.
I do know, the part number the dealer gave me does not look like the OEM TPMS's I have in my TRD off-road wheels

Update: tried driving it some more, nothing.
Decided to try again by scanning the current ids and uploading them to the ecu, no problems there every step is successful. but I still can’t get past calibrating and blinking tpms light. I even have a tcm code that I can’t clear.

i decided to do the following:

get my original sensors, have a shop mount them on the new wheels replacing the ones I can’t get programmed into my ecu.

From there I’ll have the shop program those into my ecu (I think I’m done trying myself).

i don’t know what part numbers I have I guess I’ll know once they get unmounted.

In regards going to americas tires yea I tried that before buying the tpms tool, they said they’ll try for free but because they tried scanning the trd sensors as 2021 they never showed up, so we gave up. I bought the tool then figured they show up as 2019-2020 if anybody is interested here’s a pic of what my tool reads . I’ll post back once I go to the shop this Sunday

Since I already replaced the codes from my original sensors with the trd im praying I can still program those into my ecu (now I’m kicking myself I should have done this in the first place, in my defense I thought oem trd wheels from the same model year should work no problem right?!) debating keeping the tool or returning it, it was $240 (Amzn)

Thanks but I still have my originals that came with the 20” platinum wheels I was trying to save a Buck on mounting dismounting. Shops quoted me $160 to move my original sensors to my trd wheels!

went to a hole in the wall tire shop in a little industrial area, where I found the best price to swap sensors; guy at the shop said OEM sensors are not likely to work in other trucks/cars, he said we need to get my originals on; which we did for $100. Once that was done we programmed my original sensors back to my ECU and boom they start working within minutes.

I do have a set of 20" Platinum wheels now and sensors that came from a 2021 TRD (at least that's what the guy told me they came from). I'll post on FS area.

Happy to finally get rid of that annoying light.

I bought these sensors and have the programmer. Copied the codes from my 2020 20" Sport rims that came with my truck and programed the Autel sensors with the same code. The shop only charged me $65 to change out the sensors on my Off Road 18" rims. Threw the tires on and never even flashed a code and when I checked I could see the pressure in all 4 tires. No learning required or button pressing .

That link takes us to a page with numerous items. Can you please post the link to the exact sensors you used? Thanks

The MX sensors have several valve stem options. Pick the style that fits your needs. I use the metal ones. They are running about $119 for a set of four.

Glad you got it figured out. When I swapped out my wheels, they tried giving me Autel TPMS, but those will not work with the '21. I've seen some threads speaking about utilizing the TechStream to re-program the TPMS in order for the ECU to read the new codes.

    Sorry you were having issues.
The Autel MX sensors work great for my 21.

What did they do to program it? My local shop broke one of my TPMS and used an MX. They were able to copy the code from my OE TPMS, onto the MX, but I got a malfunctioning code.

I use an Autel TS508. Worked great for me. I also just cloned my OEM's. You just have to remember there are Two sets of sensors in your garage so you can get an error if one of them is low on pressure. Once you get out of range the error will go away.

Damn interesting. Ok maybe I have the broken one in my truck and it’s catching that one too.

So you’re saying that with the TS508, once you copy your OEM TPMS codes onto the Autel, they’ll read?

Seems like a lot of effort….

Wonder what men did all those years before tpms sensors?
