I want to buy the new safer type recovery gear. I knew I was pulling trucks out of the mud in a dangerous way but that man being killed from his tow hitch failure really hit me hard. I don't know how dangerous chains are, but I have been using chains for about 40 years. I have about 50 feet of chains and I have hooked them to anything I could on the truck to pull the person's truck out. I have backed up to many trucks and floored it to try to jerk the truck out when it was buried to the frame. I want to buy a kinetic recovery rope, (as heavy duty as I can afford) soft shackles, snatch block and traction boards. I have been looking at Rhino USA, VooDoo Offroad, VEVOR and I want to check out some more places like Yankum Ropes. It is hard to compare, because all you can go by is the specs they list. From reading it looks all that I have looked at is made in China. Sorry for the long post but I want to be safer. Thanks for any help

Thanks for the replies. I am also looking at Factor 55 products now and they state they are made in the USA.

I was just looking up stuff too.

Bubba Rope and Yankum are the two big guns out there. Both made in USA from what I can tell.

I'll be ordering from factor 55 in the future.

My experience with yankum is as follows: I emailed Yankum asking for fittiment on ARB bumpers with their fairlead. No response. Ordered the fairlead, it arrived damaged (hardware kit opened up in the box and tumbled the finish off). Yankum agreed to exchange it, but having it in hand was enough to see there's no way to make it work with ARB or dobinson bumpers. I told them this and never heard back or got my return label. I guess I have to call them. Don't try to email after business hours or on weekends.

Factor 55 looks pretty good and they have videos where they actually test their products to the breaking point. It is interesting.

I have a Gear America V strap (or whatever it's called, the 8' one to spread load on tow hooks) that seems wood quality for the price.

Now I see they make a Kinetic Recovery Rope, made in USA and lifetime warranty. They didn't used to have USA made items, but do now.

    May be worth looking at.

You can not go wrong with Factor 55. All thier product are independently tested. My Ultra hook came with a test certificate 20200405_185621.jpg 20200404_152152.jpg

As others are saying, I'm also a fan of Factor 55. Great products made in the USA.

Thanks for this thread! I am researching receiver shackle mounts and Factor 55 came up a lot, also Agency 6. Factor 55 seems to have various versions 1.0, 2.0, Pro series, 2.5 etc.

I’m also interested in soft shackles but haven’t used one, any thoughts/guidance appreciated. I have various ARB shackles in my kit already.

is the factor 55 label just a sticker on the shackle or is it engraved? I hate stickers that will come off. How about the A6

I have a full ARB recovery kit with all the straps and have used it with my winch (4runner): no winch on my Tundra (yet). For now I hope to pick up the best quality receiver shackle mount possible and appreciate your thoughts re what brand/what version # you recommend, thanks!

PS also hitch pins. I have a lot of them and many are now junk, flimsy. I hope to use the best and strongest locking pin available

here’s what I’ve been looking at

My dad worked on tugboats his whole life (retired Merchant Marine). I made a tow rope out of tug line (not the big stuff, but probably mooring line). Best tow rope I've ever used. Pulled tractors out of clay gumbo mud etc...
