I searched, and didn't see a dedicated thread for paintballing.

If there is one please direct me to it.

    Anyway, here goes.

Hi, all. Been a few years since I was in the paintball scene. I had just gotten my feet wet, and was starting to purchase a few guns here or there. Some gear. Nothing too extreme. I had a change of career, and no longer had time to drive an hour or more to any fields with other players.

My little brother called me, and told me he had had found my old Tippman 98's I used. How he came into possession of them I will never know. He asked me how hard would it be to set up our own filling station, and bunkers out on Mom, and Pop's land. I told him I didn't know.

This is an idea I think would really fly. Of course i wouldn't allow anyone other than family to play out here due to liability, snakes, ticks, lyme disease, mis-steps, twisted ankles, etc. The list goes on, and on, and on...

Anyway, for anyone that knows remotely anything about anything? What kind of air compressor would I need? I'm pretty sure my little 2 gallon 120psi air compressor won't cut it, and I haven't a clue what a good high pressure rig looks like.

What are good things to look for?

Thanks for reading if you made it down this far. I apologize if things aren't exactly "coherent" up there in that long spiel. I'm tired, but even when I'm wide awake I still kinda do that. Lol

I found this unit on Amazon. I'm not sure of the brand even though it has good reviews.
I am unsure of the fill rate. There is a good chance that I will upgrade all of our kits to larger tanks. As of right now most everything I had had a 48 Ci tank. I'm fine with waiting for one tank to fill because that means a longer break. The downside of that is if there are four of us involved, and need to refill. I don't want to sit there 30 minutes waiting.

I know how my family is. They will get up, and be done for the day. Leaving me high, and dry for the day. Lol

Man. Now I want to get back into paintball, but ditto the whole not having time for it. I'd have no idea where to start with the stuff that's out there now. I was rocking a Tippmann Pro-Lite for a longest time and then moved up to an Automag later on. I got out shortly after the 98s started getting popular and compressed air was starting to get affordable.

I used to go with my now ex before we were together. We had some fun times! I remember this one time she was hiding behind a corrugated pipe bunker, and she had NO IDEA where I was. I took a pot shot just saying "Screw it." I actually hit her in the left side of the mask. Paint went through the holes, and into her ear. I never heard the end of it.

Those were the days. Actually, now that I remember how much running there is. I'm not sure I'll be able to play at all. This last november I developed stress fractures in both my feet. It was not fun times. I'm better now, and can walk on my own. I have just been assuming that running is out of the question for me. House shoes at all times. Very rarely do I not have shoes on now.

Remembering another time I played with her I had snuck from bunker to bunker, and she was hiding behind the same corrugated pipe from the other time. I ran, and jumped from one corrugated pipe to the other, and bunkered her. She told me later on that when she finally saw me I was mid jump from one pipe to the other. About 8-9 feet between them. I'm flying through the air, and I land basically on top of her :D, and then she was like "ya know what that was some bullshit. Good game though."

you're better off just getting some scuba tanks with fill regs. get them filled, and use to refill tanks. you may need to refill them every month or so, but easier/cheaper than running your own compressor which would need at least 3000 psi. 4500 is you're running high pressure. I started playing in the mid- to late-80s in So Cal. played NPPL 7-man back in the early 2000s. Body just doesn't recover like it use to so now, I hunt and fish...

Frozen paint balls are a little more painful and a hoot as long as you're not hit. Sim rounds suck as well! We used to train with paint balls back in the late 90's. Then someone had the cool idea of blue barrels and sim rounds for our M4's about 18 or 20 years ago.

ahhh another competitive paintball player, they’re rare!! I tell people I play paintball and they imagine running around in the woods. Which is fun don’t get me wrong but I’ve played tournaments for over 15 years now. I played my first NPPL event in 04 I believe and I’m still playing NXL and WCPPL, there’s still nothing that is as much fun to me. If you have any of that old JT stuff you want to sell let me know man, I love wearing my old school stuff lol

    I'm old.
FIst started back in the Woods ball days , 1993 or so. My first marker was a Tippmann 68 special. Me and my buddies traveled all over Washington , Oregon , Idaho playing 10 and 15 man tourneys. We were broke ass kids scraping money together to buy one case of paint for all of us to share.
Then slowly , all my friends quit and i tried out for a couple of teams and got picked up for practice squads , novice teams , and started working at an indoor field in PDX.
I kept at it and eventually played for some sponsored teams , traveled more , spent more money on gear .
I played in the first X Ball league on the West coast , played on fully owned and sponsored teams. Portland Paintball, Deception, Rush, Section 8 , Adrenaline , OTA , and a bunch more i cant recall.
Then it turned into a second job , too much travel and not enough money from winning, so i quit. I played my last 5 man tourney in 2008 and went out with a win on Team Rush .
Now , me and my 4 boys have a bunch of rebuilt Ions and GOG guns and we play out at our property for fun.

Hey Travis, sorry. Only thing I still have are those desert camo JT pants, which I'm keeping. And my very old and used JT pball cleats. I don't think I have anything else. Those pants are the shit though. Mine are still in really good condition, size L-XL.

I got in to paintball for a while but so many places discourage new players. I had pretty decent gear but certain places tend to always put the highly experience/best geared players on one team and all new players on another.

Hollywood sports in Bellflower, CA. Stay away from them

I have never played at Hollywood Sports, but SC Village in Chino used to do that too. All the experienced players would absolutely destroy the younger/inexperienced players all the time. Sucked arse.

I used to play at Camp Pendleton's paintball field....MANY MANY MANY moons ago. Would always play with the Marines and it was really cool to see what they trained for put to use on the paintball field.
