Just made a trip over Stillwater Pass, in Grand Country, Colorado.
Nothing difficult, but a basic, fun forest service road from Highway 125 over to Highway 34, near Grand Lake, CO. Some loose rock and ruts. Probably didn't need to, but a couple of spots gave me a chance to shift into 4Hi. It was a sure-footed as I expected it to be.
You drive through where the East Troublesome Fire burned, with some pretty amazing views. Lots of hunters right now and still some spurs that are closed.
Then went into RMNP and watched/listened to the elk bugle.

Two year East Troublesome anniversary was only a couple days ago. Looks like it happened yesterday...

It's amazing the change between spring and fall in the fire zone. Well worth the drive, if only to see how nature grows back after a fire like this. Although you could clearly see where the fire burned so hot it looks like the ground was sterilized.
Closest thing I've seen in the past is where the forest grew back after the St. Helens eruption.
