Afternoon everyone, has anyone found any upgrades for the interior map lights and rear cab lights? They’re not very bright for LEDS

I haven't seen too many people upgrade them yet. From some of the pics and videos I've seen, they do not look very bright.

The bulb type should be in the manual and could search from there if they are a drop in type.

Can't speak for all/other models, but just FYI: Platinum interior LEDs are not replacable. The LED "chips" are soldered directly to the boards in the front and rear light consoles (if you wanna call them that).
What you see sticking out are just plastic lenses.

I've taken mine apart (I ran additional front red LEDs to the overhead console).

Kind of thought that might be the case which is why I said if they were drop it types.

Good to know though. and kind of a bummer

2x round small form red LEDs (from Amazon) installed within the overhead:

    End result:
(front doors converted to red LEDs, front red overheads, front and back seat footwell reds, all wired up to turn on manually, be off, or ON with any one door open.....ohh, and they're dimmable as well (for the hell of it))

That makes sense since platinum and above have “upgraded” interior light on the spec sheets, at least the ones I looked at. I’ll take a look at the manual and hopefully the lower trim will be upgradable

    Nice job

Looks like a quick drill and splice

My lights are not "tapped" to white interiors, but ran quasi-independently.
Front doors are only LEDs switched to red, no re-wiring.

Front overhead and all footwell red LEDs are connected together, but independent of OEM white light wiring.
    Here's how it's done:
Reds are wired up to a ON-OFF-ON switch.
Bottom ON position gets its power from a proper relay 12V+ circuit (from batt, with fuse; positive switched).
OFF position simply keeps them off, no matter what.
Top ON position is negative switched from the "door open" switches/sensors, and reds come ON when any one door is open.
A current limiting diode is utilized on each door open sensor connection that I tapped into (so I run a negative tap from each door back to the switch), and then they all meet together at the switch. This is done so that the truck shows accurately which door is open-otherwise it would show that all doors are open, even if you only had 1 door open, and you'd never know which is open as well.

I can (and do) run both white OEM and my red LED "systems" together or independently of each other (since the OEM lights have their own switches, I can have either white or red interior lights active....or both)

Not a quick drill and splice.
Gotta have the entire overhead console apart, carefully, then determine where exactly to drill for the red LEDs.
There's barely any room in there to fit them, but as you can see it can be done.

Also, the rear overhead does not have enough room to nicely add red LEDs.....it may be doable but I'm not sure if I want the reds kinda "half-assed" at the very edge of the plastic enclosure. I'm still undecided on those, and haven't added anything to the rear overhead light module. Very little room to do anything there.

I wish my truck had "standard" overhead lights; this overengineered idiocy for the sake of who knows what is/was rather unnecessary there.

There was a shop that I thought was potentially looking at creating something for these... @Meso was this you? Or did I get it wrong... might have been someone else.

I saw a post MESO was doing for the 3rg gen overhead console, but it was vague and just saying some RD&T. So something might be coming, I assume it will be a while, next year some time

    Yup. Me-so Customs.
I loved their interior lights on my 2017 Tundra.

Let's see if they come up with anything for 2022s, but I know that my Platinum will need to stay the way it is, otherwise I'd lose the entire overhead light console, which has everything build in together (lights, buttons, SOS, sunroof control, shade) on one PCB.

    Again,
Maybe non-Plat/1794 models have different/simpler equipment and it will be possible to do something with them. Lucky them in that case. :)

Yeah, the post I saw was the entire overhead console removed.

It was on an IG story but has since been deleted
