Here's the video on how to take the door card off if you've never done it before.

Chrome strips are painted, the whole truck was painted in 2020 and I just told the shop to do their best with the chrome and I wouldn't be upset if it peeled. So far they've held up well.

Another great example of easily misinterpreted text. Knowing that the book teaches the element of writing style, that could be taken offensively, even tho you are 100% correct. Perhaps I should read it....

    Rusty isn't high?

Every door/tailgate lever uses steel rods with clips, the clips @Tundra2 alluded to.

The AC are somewhat notorious for heavily-used rear door rods to "loosen up" if you use the hell out of them. Some guys have found that just opening the door card and bending the rod in a couple places to "shorten" it, relatively, will allow it to engage. But it could be that the rod clips have popped off too. Basically the same clip-on-rod system you'll see HERE.

You really won't know until you pop that door card off and pull the handle to watch what's happening, but it's probably either the rod is worn, or a clip broke, or came unlatched. I can tell you my passenger side rear is almost there, from the kids.

I can explain what I mean about putting a kink in the rod if you need. I swear there's a thread on this somewhere. I swear I read in the year or two before I broke down and joined here, but it may've been on another Tundra forum (this is just the one I picked to settle in at)

Naw, after I posted about the rain collapsing it, I couldn't save it.

I ended up recycling the metal poles, and burnings the canvas. Another one might be in my future

Awesome, thanks for the write up and link - one of the many projects for my list lol. I only noticed it didn't work on Tuesday because I locked myself in

Just got myself a new, high maintenance girlfriend on Sunday and was trying to get her a bit more used to being in the truck by sitting in back with her and giving her treats... then couldn't get out

Mine's quite a bit bigger (50-60lb), and she has no qualms with jumping from back to front. You'll get there soon enough, door working or not. :D
(PS - if it's interesting, I've got one of the best training kits on the market, brand new/open box, at half the retail cost for sale over here)
