I am considering getting an Ipad to use for navigation. I think I found a decent dash mount that is unobtrusive and I cannot really justify spending $1500 on a Pioneer or Kenwood dash mount AV system right now and I dont travel out of town that much. Mostly I HATE the Tundra built in nav interface.

I use a iPad mini on occasion mounted with a Proclip mount. For the stock head unit (Carplay enabled) I use a wireless Carplay dongle to display Waze on the head unit. Its either or since the head unit doesn't allow Carplay and bluetooth at the same time.

Do they stay charged OK and do you have cellular access on them?

I keep my plugged in to a quick charge adapter and I predominantly use cell access. I've only gone on short trips (less than two hours) and have been able to keep all devices topped off.

I have mine plugged in constantly while driving, the outlet is just below it so why not. Mine are cellular capable so when I am out with no reception it is fine with the built in GPS
