    Where are you located?
Have you tried manually shifting it?
Does the lever move at all?
If it does, does the gauge cluster show gear changes?

Yup, I'm sure you know that's the intent behind the 1st question.

But I also know some folks have broken the shift arm, armature on the transmission housing is frozen, shift cable snapped or frozen, PNS issues (no Viagra needed), and if I remember right, there's that stupid issue on some 1st gens where, if the circuit for the tail or reverse lights is incomplete (like a reverse bulb or brake light bulb is out or something?) it won't shift out of park, but I'm fuzzy on that one.

Disconnect the shift cable, and shift it by hand while on a dolly, and have someone steer the truck. :D

    Have you checked:
    • The brake light switch is fully engaging when the pedal is depressed?
    • All brake lights are fully functional?

Wiggle test, rock it back & forth, if that doesnt break it loose, its the cable. Dont try to force it. What does the trans fluid look like? Water can make the bits sticky.

My 06 sometimes will lock up. It unlocks when I rock the entire truck backward and forward. Just shifting my body back and forward sitting in the drivers seat works most times. I have had to get someone to rock it a few times before I can move the shifter.

On steering column is pin that prevents shifter moving out of park unless brake pedal depressed. Might need dab of grease and push with screwdriver if it’s frozen
