I just found out this past week while getting my Veteran DL update that those with any percentage of disability can now shop on base! Pretty sweet! Im currently in the process to get my Veterans Healthcare ID card to gain access to this.
Awesome thread, and thank you all for your service!

Not sure if this has been posted but troop.id (id.me) requires a registration and then online access to a ton of online vendors. https://shop.id.me/military Though not on their website, Cigars International has this on their website and gives 10% plus free shipping.

Not going to read all 5 pages but i did a "search" in this thread and it didn't come up....So hopefully this is not a repeat...If you haven't ever heard of SCRA (Servicemembers Civil Relief Act) then you better get to google and check it out!!!
So quick synopsis on how it can help you...it can drop your credit card interest rate to 0% yes I said 0%.,..brief story about my instance..I had a credit card that was maxed out at like 17K..I would pay a bunch on it then charge it up again (i know dumbass but that's the way I USE TO BE) anyways i applied through my CC company for SCRA and not only did they drop my interest rate to 0% but they paid back all the interest I had paid over like a 10 year period and paid off over 15K of my CC....just thought I would share the knowledge as before I retired this helped numerous of my colleagues

It didn’t know this, but wish I did years ago. There were times I tried when it was high and all they said was no to reducing it even in the slightest. Thanks!

I believe it use to be called the Soldier and Sailor Relief Act or something to that and it wasn't as good as the current SCRA, I had a guy I worked with before I retired apply to his CC's and he ended up with a $12K check in the mail...his balances were 0 on his CCs but they still reimbursed him for the years of interest he paid.

If you are still currently Active Duty just call your CC companies..more than likely they will have you fax/email a copy of your orders....USAA has a link on their website that you can scan in your orders and submit it online FYI

NOT all companies will drop your rate to 0% but the majority of them will at least go to 4% or below, from what i saw.

Ahh, ok. It only applies to active duty? I’m out now and work with the USCG as a civilian so still good info to pass on the AD guys and gals.

    SCRA Eligibility
The SCRA covers all active duty service members, reservists and the members of the National Guard while on active duty. The protection begins on the date of entering active duty and generally terminates within 30 to 90 days after discharge.

    What Does The SCRA Cover?
The SCRA can postpone or suspend financial or civil obligations to prevent you from being taken advantage of while on active duty and away from home.

Protections offered by the SCRA include:

    • Prevents your landlord from evicting you unless the rent is higher than $3,991.90 per month for 2020 (this amount changes every year)
    • Stops foreclosures without a court order
    • Your vehicle can't be repossessed without a court order if you made a deposit, or at least one payment before you joined
    • You can't be taken to court for civil proceedings, this includes divorce and child support hearings
    • Keeps the owner of a self-storage facility from selling your belongings for overdue rent without a court order
Benefits offered by the SCRA include:

    • Lets you terminate your telecom contracts (telephone, cable, internet etc.) if you relocate for at least 90 days to a location that doesn't have coverage under your current provider
    • Lets you keep your current phone number even if you cancel your service due to a relocation that lasts less than 3 years
    • Lets you end a vehicle lease you signed before joining if you are mobilized, PCS OCONUS, or deploy OCONUS for at least 180 days
    • Lets you end a housing lease without penalty if you deploy for 90 days or more
    • Lets a surviving spouse terminate a lease if their partner dies on active duty
    • Lets a military spouse claim either their home of record, the service member's state of legal residence, or the state they are living in for tax purposes
    • Limits interest on all loans taken out before joining the military to 6 percent. This includes auto loans, mortgages, student loans, credit cards, etc.
    • Also, it says that if you use any of your SCRA rights and delay payments it won't reflect on your credit report
The SCRA also gives you other rights regarding property taxes, federal taxes, life insurance, and other financial or legal penalties or proceedings. Check with your unit legal officer for specifics.

    Veterans Day 2020 Discounts

Veterans Day 2020 is on Wednesday, Nov. 11th, 2020. This Veterans Day discounts list will continue to be updated as we learn of more nationally available Veterans Day discounts, meals or other ways businesses and organizations want to give back to Veterans. These Veterans Day discounts, free meals and other programs are being shared so that Veterans, their families, caregivers, and survivors are aware of all resources available to them.

Due to COVID-19, some organizations are now offering discounts to Veterans all the time instead of their regular Veterans Day discounts. These adjustments help Veterans take advantage of the discounts offered while avoiding the usual Veterans Day crowds. A new section at the bottom of this story will list all the year-round Veterans discounts.

I know Vortex has been mentioned here, but they limit the annual purchases when done directly through them and for some reason have limited stock so long wait times for discounted merch. I actually had a Vortex rep recommend I shop through AAoptics.com to avoid the long wait time. If you register with them you get the same 40% off with no limits and they are authorized via Vortex. Only minor caveat with aaoptics is they charge for returns, so be sure of your purchase.

**I have no affiliation with aaoptics, just customer**

For those with a 30% or more disability rating you can get a Federal Parks Access Pass for free. With it, camping at federal camgrounds is half price, and IIRC day pass is free.
I went to a Forest Service office and picked mine up. Has probably saved us several thousand dollars over the years.
