Well the wife and I drove down to to South Padre Island to see my old gal. The USS Kittyhawk was towed into the port of Brownsville TX for scrapping. See her for the first time seeing her brought back a flood of memories, most good some bad and some sad. 20220531_131201.jpg 20220531_131201.jpg

    Too many, but not enough....
Sad indeed. That is no way to treat a veteran after 60 years of loyalty.

Thanks OP and miss kitty for your service.

I was on USS INDEPENDENCE (CV 62) in Yokosuka. KHK replaced her in Japan in 1998 and spent a LOT of time broken and unable to make commitments.

INDY never missed a commitment 1994-1998, had plenty of fresh water but Air Conditioning was just about non-existent except in CVIC or CTF-70's cabin.

I did a Dependents cruise and ate many meals at the CPO mess while Pops had duty on the weekends...on that ship.
