Finally hit a solid 255 rep on bench again (flat back, medium grip, controlled pause rep, inch off chest).. slowly working my way back up to when I could do 5x5 of 275 a year ago since messing up my shoulder.

I'm kind of impressed with myself because that's with a super shitty diet consisting of not eating enough food most days, not taking my protein shakes, drinking beers at night, eating cookies while programming ..and only using C4 pre-workout (I've been neglecting my BCAAs and creatine, too).

No weights for me anymore. JUST.TOO.BORING! So about 3 years ago I started JiuJitsu. I train under BJJ Black Belt, Travis Lutter (Former UFC and TUF #4 Champ). It's a whole-body workout, plus cardio, plus the mental exercise, not to mention self defense aspects. The best exercise/workout regimen on the planet.

That is a good workout. To each his own

I'm a big fan of strength training with bag work for conditioning.

Ditto what @Law323 said. Do what keeps you motivated. I used to hate weight training but over the last 3 years have grown to like it. Can't say that for running which is why I make myself do it once in a while.

Very cool!, my youngest son, 6 and myself are going to start Jiu Jitsu in the next month or two. I want both my boys to have their first degree black belt by 12 years old, my oldest got his Taekwondo black belt at 11 with a broken collar bone. He is quite the young man, taller than me as of yesterday... So I've dabled in Karate, Taekwondo, and going to try to stick with Jiu Jitsu. I still gotta have my weight training, enjoy very much, can turn a bad day great for me.

Well, my knee (same one previously operated on) has been acting up the last few weeks.
After trying to lighten it up, with no luck I changed up the routine this morning and began wearing my knee sleeve again. So far, it seems to feel better. Let's hope it stays this way!

Sometimes I feel therapy is useless ...it took them 10 sessions of me complaining for them to finally do an MRI and say "oh, I see why you're in pain now"

I've had an MRI and have torn cartilage behind my knee cap and possible re-tear of meniscus. Have to do therapy before my doc will even think about survey due to so much muscle loss. And she is hoping that i can avoid surgery because i will have to have a total knee replacement in 10-15 years as it is.

Oh, I'm sure I'm not far behind you. Shoulder is probably next as well.

I cannot sit in tight spaces without it aching and needing to be stretched to "crack"

Today, I did lying leg curls and real wide and real light leg presses for high reps. It seemed to tolerate that. I followed that up with foam rolling...I need to ice it

Meanwhile the joints of couch potatoes feel fantastic, haha.

I have been doing Body Beast workouts mixed with running between 1-3 miles. (I know, I know, not as cool as powerlifting). Always trying to mix it up.

I have to say I have been feeling great. No shoulder or lower back pain like I used to have when I was lifting with low reps, high weight.

I'm thinking of starting Body Beast in a couple of weeks. The other option is some cardio program since I suck at cardio.

Do it! I got hooked while watching friends do Body Beast workouts at the same time I was doing my workout. I felt lazy watching them sweat, breathe heavy, and looking like they wanted to die. The first one I did kicked my ass, and so has every one since, I'm hooked for now.

Good thread! I spend most of my time now riding/racing mountain and cyclocross bicycles. It keeps me trim and fit but I need to get back to a whole body strength workout. I did Crossfit - gasp!, when it first hit the scene 10 years ago til I blew out my shoulder. I then got into KravMaga for several years, which was great, until our gym closed down. I miss Krav bad...my Wife got really into it and started down the path to get certified to teach.

Anyway, just went and checked out a Gracie JuiJitsu gym a few miles from home and it looks solid too. @TundraTex, glad to hear it's been solid.
