I own a 2001 Toyota Tundra that was used for snow plowing back-in-the-day.
The frame is rotting and I am considering buying a new chassis and cab to switch out.
Does anyone know what years would be compatible.
I know its a first generation vehicle.
Can I use parts up to year 2006 model year?

Is it not eligible for the frame recall?

Aside from that key tidbit ^^^

The general consensus is "Like for like". And by "like for like" we mean (A) compatible cab type, and (B) compatible engine/trans combo.

RE: cab type. The frame lengths are different between access cab (AC)/regular cab (RC) and the double cab (DC). The DC didn't come out until 2002, but you need to be aware, the DC frame is supposedly not compatible with AC or RC trucks so it's not a viable option. Claims have been made on this forum that AC and RC frames are the same, at least for "like" years.

RE: drivetrain. The V6 and V8 don't share the same frame mount provisions. I don't remember if the 2WD and 4WD are same (it's stuck in my head they are, but don't quote me on that).

You didn't bother to give us two key details, cab type and drivetrain of your current truck. Leaving out details like that make it really hard to give you a straight answer. Always better to give too many details when you ask for help than not-enough. But from what we know about the 2000, knowing there's only an AC and RC for that year, and not knowing your drivetrain, I can say (at minimum) your ideal candidate would be a 2000-2001 Tundra, AC or RC, with the same drivetrain config.

If you have the work done professionally, expect to pay $3k-$6k for the swap depending who is doing the work. If you do it yourself, you'll probably want to have access to a 2-post lift. Here's what you're in for, and how we know V6 frames aren't compatible with V8:

My understanding is, the AC and RC (long bed) trucks use the same frame. The AC uses the extra foot+ of frame for its cab. The RC uses the extra foot+ of frame for bed.

I called Toyota and they told me the frame is no longer available and the recall does not cover my truck.
They said the Toyota part number for my 2001 Toyota 4WD 4.7 Liter 8 foot bed was
    Toyota 51001-0C111
    Frame Sub-Assembly
    2000-2003 Toyota Tundra 510010C111 - Discontinued.

Sorry I forgot to mention I have a RC (Regular Cab) 2001 Tundra 4WD 8 foot bed.
I Googled the frame # 51001-0C111 and could not find it available anywhere.
    Everything says it is discontinued.
Appears the only place to find a replacement chassis is a salvage yard.
From what I understand the only frames that fit my truck are from Model years 200-2003 with identical transmission, cab size and bed length.
I'm a little emotional I love this truck and knew it had rust but it got away from me.
Looking back I should have been more proactive regarding the rust issue.
I want to thank everyone for all the information you have given me its much appreciated.
So far, I haven't found an identical truck for sale with the same regular cabin, 4WD transmission and 8 foot bed for sale anywhere anyplace.
My question is would it be extremely difficult would it be difficult to modify another 2000 thru 2003 Tundra with a different cabin size having the same 4WD transmission?

I'm supposing "like" years means first generation Tundra's in my case means First generation Tundra years 2000 thru 2006?

Chassis-wise, I have it stuck in my head there's a divide, but don't have time to look it up. I think the grouping is 00-02, 03-06 for chassis stuff, but I'm not sure.

Thing is, I don't remember if there's actual frame differences, or if it's purely cosmetic.

I know I've replied to your other posts but it really seems like you're trying to sort this thing out. Do you have in your service records that it was for sure coated by Toyota previously? Just hoping there is a chance you're misremembering or they didn't log it or something like that. Have you taken a look on toyota.com/owners before?

I know for sure it was coated previously.
I also logged into toyota.com/owners and it reads no recalls.
I also spoke to someone at the dealer whom I gave my VIN number to and they said the same.
    Thank You for asking.

Ah ok darn. Yeah I was told that only dealers could buy the frames but that they are still made just show discontinued online. I can give you the address of the plant that makes them but that's about all I got. Best of luck in your searches.

Seems like there's gotta be a regular cab long bed truck in a yard somewhere that was owned by a company that they deemed "too old" and upgraded and scraped the old one. Just gotta find the right places to look.

Guess the plant that makes them won't sell them? I'm guessing there is a shortage because of covid but who know there seems to be a shortage of everything.

Probably not. Very large frame manufacturing company. They don't care about the individual I don't think. If Toyota issues a recall they'll make them a frame. Why Toyota doesn't want to sell to individuals, I'm really not sure.

I'm hoping there are other models with frames that will fit a regular cabin 8 foot bed truck. So far I'm not sure.

Ask them the frame part number for a 2001 access cab and see if it is the same as yours.

I'll save you the legwork, @Shane1962

Note that these are the "exact match" frames, like, it would literally be a plug-and-play. But that's not to say another frame wouldn't work, similar to what @t.mcginley.jr found when he landed a V6 frame instead of V8 and had to cut loose and re-weld some mounts.

Still, I swear I've seen it said on here (maybe from @empty_lord ?) that AC and RC frames are interchangeable, i.e. no need to weld anything, as long as the drivetrain matched? Dunno.

Body mounts will need to be moved. Depending on year fuel tank. Mounts would need to be modified.

but length and main rail wise, reg cab and extended cab mostly share a frame

Really? I have a brand new one at the farm. They were making them a few months ago.

    Granted it’s a v6 frame

I heard they say discontinued but can be purchased by a dealer to do a frame recall but not to be sold to a customer.
