I’m going to take off my RXT springs next weekend and put my stock suspension back on. I’m also going to take my 2.5 King shocks, and Camburg UCA’s off next weekend and bring my truck back to factory suspension. I have about 600 miles on the Kings and UCA’s, and about 200 miles on the ICON RXT’s. Never been off pavement and never hauled or towed anything. I’ll be posting everything up for sale here and on OfferUp next weekend. Since I’m not an off-roader I don’t think this setup was the best choice for me.

So I e now had the chance to drive it around with no load and with a constant 200 lbs load. The ride quality is noticeably better with a constant load of 200 lbs and the weight causes the bed to sit at least 1 inch lower than an empty bed. Hope this helps.

I removed the RXT leaf pack and put a used set of Toyota OEM TRD Pro springs on it and now the truck rides much better. If I had to do it all over again and buy aftermarket springs I would go with something else with a right and left side that sits level. The ICON springs also made noise which bugged me. Maybe that's something that would have gone away with time and I should have been more patient.

That's interesting to me, you never off road and never off pavement, what made you steer to KINGs for shocks? Just curious, not bashing or anything

I do go off road occasionally just not the kind where I’m doing jumps or anything hardcore. I wanted to put bigger tires and to do so you need to lift your truck. I didn’t just want to put spacers and blocks so I thought it was better to do it the right way. Well little did I know the ride comfort on the street would be so bad it made driving my truck something I dreaded each time. Le$$on learned!

I have Option 3 installed and one thing to not is the leaf that is inserted into the pack, where they instruct you to install it is shorter and doesn't conform with the leaf pack's "shortest to longest" stacking of the leaf. I
I've reached out to Icon numerous times over the last 2 years, no one seems to know the right answer here. I now have terrible sag when I hook my boat up to the truck. I wonder if its due to this configuration. It specifically states, insert extra leaf between #2 and #3 leafs. It looks like it should go between #3 and #4. I've never seen a pack stacked like this, and fear this is what is ruining my load carrying capacity.

You have had this problem for two years and Icon has yet to rectify the problem?

I've called their tech support, I've called numerous off-road shops that deal with Icon... I've emailed just about everyone in the Icon organization with ZERO help!! No one knows why they would set it up this way, or even if this is the proper way to run them. Off road shops say they would stack the leafs in order, forget what Icon says... But for some reason Icon will not address this. I still have them set the way the instructions show. The leaf is clearly shorter than the ones before and after it.
Stranger yet, I cant seem to find anyone that is actually running the full leaf pack, just to see how they are set up.

I noticed this when I installed mine. It didn’t make any sense so I just stacked them by length.

I am planning to add the extra leaf in at some point this week/weekend to go with option 3. Their instructions don’t give much advice on how to do this?l. Could someone help me out and provide a little step by step on how to go about. Is it as simple as using a couple clamps and slowly backing everything off and back on. Thanks in advance!

I don't have Icons but I did an AAL on my Alcans. It's actually as simple as you stated. I used a screwdriver to keep the holes on each leaf lined up. Make sure the leaf doesn't hit or rub any rivets on the leaf directly above it and ensure your pack keeper brackets can accommodate the added thickness.

I should have, but didn't because I figured Icon designed them this way, there must be a reason... Now I'm not so sure.

That’s what I did. Just clamped it, removed the center nut and slowly backed out the clamps.

reassembly is a little more difficult cuz you need to get them all to line up as you clamp them together. We used a long screw driver and it wasn’t too bad.

these are the clamps I used

Time to replace leaf springs immediately. Looking through this thread it looks like I’ll be headed for option 1 or 2 as I haul rock, tractor and other things regularly. My packs are apparently shot, flat and starting to invert. My question is can I get rid of the 4” block in the rear if I go with these springs? Also, which option would you all go with? I’ve got some 2.5 shackles I can install if needed that I ordered from Pro Form Fab awhile back.

You can totally design a pack to accommodate the lift height you want with Alcan springs. Not sure about any others.

I'm at 7.5" and have no blocks

Thanks texasrho83, I’ve seen them mentioned quite a bit but never considered because of no prices on their website. I just emailed them for a quote on my setup.

Lew Weldon owns it and quotes everything. He's very knowledgeable and responsive. They offer a small vet discount too.

Got my quote pretty quick for some 4” lifted 300lb over springs. Curious about what you went with on yours since you got a 7” lift. You running shackle to make up height without the blocks?

Well mine was a little unconventional due to the fact I went by measurement only and didnt take it to the scales. I'm pushing 480 lbs over stock weight. He originally built a 5" pack but it wasn't enough and I had a solid 1" reverse rake. He sent me 2 AALs and that squared me away.

    I have 2" CB shackles.

Great, you think I’ll be good with the 4” or do I need the AAL’s? I’d really hate to end up with the reverse rake like I’ve got now due to the flat springs. If anything I don’t mind a 1” positive rake.

As long as you've given him accurate data with measurements and weights (loaded), I'd trust his judgment.
