I hear you, even the low priced ones seem overpriced to me. When my wife complained about me bringing the FGT home, I mentioned that my three cars, camper trailer and portable boat were still less than half the price of her one "reasonably priced car". Changing all the fluids, replacing timing chain, water pump and radiator in my FGT was more than the price of admission. Now I have had unsolicited offers around 10k.
It's a car sellers market at the moment, well its a sellers market period. Im sure prices will go down and level at some point in the future. how low? who knows. Maybe the Tundra's will keep some equity since they are now getting older yet remain reliable. Like many others in the forum, I love the simplicity and good looks. Unlike other vehicles I've owned there is not a lot of differences among FGT's other than number of doors, cylinders and cab sizes. There are many cars, old and new that may have a large range of equipment and prices yet to the average person they all look the same. One example is the Jeep Wrangler, there are many models and packages, if you are an enthusiast you seek the ones with the right axles, engines and gear ratios. My wife just sees a Jeep. I did school her on first gen (88) M5, she liked it so much we ended up with two, I miss them.

I completely agree. I'm never selling my FGT or the boys 4G4R. I can'r replace them with better. But, when I buy another, I'll be shopping for the sweet spot of price for what it is, because I'm going to build it my way.

That could be a very good buy. CO state license tax on that would be about $70/year, and annual insurance would be around 20% of a newish $40K Tundra.

I also have a 2000 2WD Tundra, 345k miles and I'll be keeping it. I now have my 2nd major issue as my differential has just gone out on me. Currently working on that.
I had to replace my steering cylinder + bushings at ~285k miles.
Smaller issues (other than normal wear items) have been:
Replaced the belt idler pully bearing.
Replaced the engine coolant radiator after it split.
Cleaned my mass air sensor at ~200k miles.

I'm thinking that with the new caziness coming out of CA concerning ICE passenger vehicles and how this craziness tends to spread; as 13 states have decided to follow CA's EPA laws vs the Fed EPA laws; the used vehicle market will remain strong for the next 20 years or more - at least until CA outlaws ICE passenger vehicles outright.

I'm a fool but I think 2000-2006 was really the sweet spot of ICE. Particularly MT. From the M5 through to our FGT's, it was a special time which I didn't fully appreciate while I was young(er) and stupid(er). I think in 20 years the value of well preserved utility vehicles in this vintage will have a solid floor. Meanwhile, our 2018 Odyssey, I think I'd rather sell that off before it's 10 years old than keep it past 2035.

I've been thinking of selling mine as my work just gave me a new f150.

    2002 SR5 RCLB 4x4-V8 Desert Sand. 35k.
The right offer I prob would sell. Garaged it's whole life. It's almost too nice for me to enjoy. Just a headunit and LED interior lights, tires. Pretty sure I'm not going to have the time to enjoy it like I was hoping. You know capitalism and all....

There's a Tundras For Sale section in the Marketplace that's pretty active. Be sure to post lots of pics of the undercarriage.

    https://www.tundras.com/forums/tundras-for-sale.100/

If you see a message saying you're not authorized to view, you either haven't been here long enough, or don't have enough posts. I read somewhere it's 50 posts, but ...

(Not sure if I believe it, I swore I posted stuff there back when I had like 25 posts)

Only downside is, 35k miles is awesome, but RCLB usually weren't optioned out as well, and doesn't quite have the same draw as DC trucks, and occasionally a fully loaded AC. But your truck looks pretty damn awesome, and hopefully fetches a nice penny if you sell. BringATrailer may be the way to go with it.

Thanks yes lots of nice trucks. RC is not for everybody. I agree it is the least desirable of the 3 configurations. It's pretty damn clean with all paperwork and the garage has kept it nice for a Northeast truck. I might post it on BAT to see if there is any interest. I have people asking to buy it randomly but have said not for sale up to this point. If I had a warehouse or large garage I'd keep it forever.

I know people like the 3.5 eco boost but driving them back to back the Tundra rides and handles just as good as the Ford. Slightly slower but so much less to potentially break and v8 sounds better. Tundra feels more planted front end wise imo.

Not the “least desireable” to me. You can buy any other style of truck these days but a v8 RC 4x4 is not easy to find and impossible to buy new from a Toyota dealership.

I get random offers too when/IF I drive it. Last time I went the Toyota place, they were circling around the truck like vultures.

Yea. If I had to spec one from new your truck ticks all the boxes. I like the AC and sucker for two tone paint jobs.

at certain times of the day, the thunder gray on the bottom looks purple to me. at those certain times of the day..I don't like the truck. I wish it was more of an actual silver.

That's the nature of the color. It's more taupe than silver, a greywashed tan-purple.

New flavor comes out the day after i stocked up. Doesnt really sound like my jam, but i'll try everything once.

    on another side note,
Spent some marlboro points on another bluetooth speaker. Jbl something 5. Louder than i need, and it'll reach me from far enough.

The tcm soundbar's bluetooth quit working. Even after a factory reset, still wont show up on my phone.

Tent is closed again. Supposed to freeze tonight.
    6CB2611B-9756-4055-BFAF-EE2BA06E4481.jpg
gonna have a couple hard freezes later this week. anyone else pull their poo water sprinkler heads, and wedge a hose into it? They only spray once a night, if theres enough water, but there should be. Thinking is, if it freezes it'll just swell the hose and not crack the sprinkler head. Several neighbors had their poo sprinklers break a couple years ago, but that was a solid week of freeze.

Never heard of problems with the septic stuff. Mine all survived the big freeze. I have one faucet in the outdoor kitchen I worry about, usually just let it slow drip. This seems like a good place to have some lunch. Comfy.

I drove my '05 DC to the dealer not long ago and the salesmen were flocked around it looking in the windows and waiting for me to come out. When they did they kept asking if I wanted to trade it in on a new '23? Silly boys. Why trade it a perfectly good paid off truck for a "hit or miss" reliability truck that costs $60K? lol
