Siblue’s TRD Off Road

Ok I’ll start one of these.
Purchased on my birthday 9/20
2022 Tundra Crewmax Limited TRD Off Road package.
Pretty fully equipped just no adjustment headlights, no heated steering wheel.
Not sure what the plans are but first off is dechrome exterior.

I have already purchased:
OEM bed step-installed
Bed mat
TRD skid plate-installed
TOYOTA center caps-installed
Predator steps-installed
Cornfed 1” front-installed
Sparksparts door handle kit and grill surround kit

Might remove the safe console it came with.
I’ll post it for sale when available.

 

Some Easter eggs I discovered prior to removal. Truck silhouettes in TRD Off Road bed side decal.
I found four per side but difficult to see in photos.



More found as I explore this truck

 

Not as easy as a Tacoma.
About an hour to remove per side but I got it off.
I found it to have an outer layer, reflective layer, and adhesive layer.
Only used a heat gun and rubbing alcohol to clean off the paint.

Wrapped my tailgate handle. Didn’t like the results. Too much lifting around some parts. Will replace when Toyota parts are on sale

 

how do you like that bed step? I'm thinking of getting that one for my Tacoma....

 

Always wanted one for the Tacoma and works well in this Tundra.
Liking it so far.

 

I'm surprised with this new gen Toyota didn't put something permanent in the bumper or tailgate like the other OEMs

 

Yeah, I wondered about that too with the tailgate down, there is nothing besides the tailgate itself.

It’s at an awkward stage.
Sparks parts gave me another 4 week eta for my painted parts.

 

How are you liking the recon grapplers?

 

Great so far. Not as loud as my Ridge Grapplers. Just waiting for some rain to see how they handle.

 

Got my Sparks parts painted order.

 

Added VLEDs footwell lighting. Just dome circuit and not PWM module version since I wanted OEM ambient lighting.






No write ups

 

Added OEM ambient lighting to dash and footwells today.
Pass side footwell looks a shade off but it was the lighting from the camera.
Don’t have the MOOD button so I connected to dimmer circuit. It’ll dim with main dimmer button.
Dash pieces were trimmed to allow light to shine.






Again no write ups.

 

Looking good and it’s definitely kept you busy. Have you put on the painted parts yet?

 

Thanks and been busy with kid activities(Tundra kid Uber). Took some time off for the holidays to get those parts put on.

 

any link to the oem ambient lighting kit? only blue or can you change the color?

 

OEM is one color only. I believe only Lexus has RGB for multiple colors unless you go aftermarket.

Technically the following are door panel PN but used them to cannibalize included harness for footwells.

White grill surround installed today.
Also DD SSC2 fogs in lower open area while bumper was removed. Lamps hooked up to 12v power supply for the pics.

 

Had a pair of Tacoma LED bed lights to repurpose as puddle lights.
Did this mod on my 22 Taco too.
Tapped the existing cargo lamp wires.

 

Nice work on all the mods - truck looks great!! Where do you live - I’d like to hire you to install mods for me!!

Great looking truck!

 

Door handles are on.
Will wrap window sills before I spend the cash for the OEM ones.

 

Toyota should buy all my chrome parts as a core exchange.

 

Looks sweet! I wanted to chrome delete as well and was thinking of gloss black wrap to match other trim. Wife said keep the chrome…Still planning on debadging at some point.

We’ve had a few rainy days in socal and the tires handled great so far.
I’ve purchased 18” wheels so I’m researching tires again.
