This happened to me last week.
About a month ago I went to get in my truck and upon startup, I noticed that all of my lighting was pulsing.
Go to drive off and everything was good. I get across town and right before I parked my dash lit up like a Xmas tree.
CELs, Pre Collision warnings, trailer brake, not ready to drive, etc.

Read the code and it gave me a transmission solenoid code. Truck only has 30 k on it so WTF?

Reset the code and was good for a couple of weeks.

On my way home it did it again so I drove by the dealer to see what the service reps had to say, one said that I needed a new alternator, another said that my transmission was shot and another said it must be rodent damage.

I drove up the road to Advanced Auto and had them check my less than 1 year old battery and guess what, it had a bad cell, replaced under warranty and all symptoms went away, also my range to empty changed as well, I thought that my mileage was super bad but didn't really notice.

I think that the bad battery was making my truck run like crap and basically retarding the engine. Go figure.

Good to know about bad battery - makes sense. I disconnected my battery and cleared the faults. Have driven 300+ miles so far with no issues. So far so good…

I did the same and was good for a bit, I would have the battery checked anyway.

Add another victim to the list. Got the warning lights this morning and saw chewed up foam on the driveway underneath. Damnit! Just dropped off at the dealer and it’ll be $485 right off the bat to run “special wire diagnostics.” They did mention insurance may cover it if it isn’t warranty work.
This definitely isn’t the first time I’ve had rodents under the hood, but it’s they first time I’ve seen evidence of them chewing stuff!
Really sucks because the 3 other cars on my property which are much older have never had issues with chewed wires. The new stuff really has some tasty electronics :annoyed:

Trust me it is rodent damage, so far my harness has been replaced twice. The pcs harness is up under the intake. The second time it was replaced, I had rodents chew through the damn harness a week later, even after it was covered with schedule 40. I currently have had meeses living in my truck for a few months. I have had traps set up with peanut butter and cheese for weeks. No catch em... they poop on my glue traps and laugh at me as they do it. I have tied about 10 cloth bags with moth balls and ghost pepper flakes around the engine compartment, currently I only have two bags left hanging. They chew through the damn strings, time to hang them with wire, smart little fuckers. I have since blocked off the access holes on firewall so eventually their food supply will be exhausted. I am currently waiting to catch the little bastards, before i fix this again. If you do it yourself expect 2-3 hours and a few beers. If you can turn a wrench you can do it. Fuck all rodents, and Toyota for trying to save the planet with their "soy insulation", real smart.
