Ground Connection

I can use the bolt highlighted as a place for grounding. This is behind the driver door kick panel.

Can you?, I don't see why not. Basically any time you see a bolt with wires attached to the metal body of the truck, it is a ground. I grounded to the same place for my dash switches and used the same type spot under the hood for all my lighting relays.

 

What are you trying to ground? How long is your grounding wire?

I am just grounding a 4w CB radio from under the seat . The radio wires that came with it reach the nut.
Yes a CB to keep the other passengers in the Tundra distracted from their cell phones. Don't need them sucking all the
data during a long trip.

Maybe the kids can annoy a ORT to the point I can shoot a remake of Dennis Wearver's Duel.

That's a great ground to use just make sure you tighten it up good. Looks like main ground location for dash so if it gets loose your truck will act possessed

 

Yes sir you should be good to ground your CB on that point. I was just making sure you weren't running a long wire for something like a stereo amp.

 

@1UPPER Well I finally made a decision on the ham rig I am going to buy. Its the Kenwood TM-V71 which is 50watts. That I will be connecting directly to the battery using a 20amp fuse. I figure 10ga wire should be fine to handle the draw. Maybe I'll drop the fuse down to 15. Suggestions?

 

well I checked the manufacture web site and it has this for reference:

Looking for a good grounding location under hood passenger side for Firestik FG4-648-B?

 

There is a ground terminal on the fender near the air filter box.

 

The seat bolts can be uses as a ground as well.
