Can you believe this part is $84?

I was opening my driver's door Monday and noticed it has a really noisy popping sound.
Looked it over thinking it needed a shot of silicone spray on the hinges.
    The door check is broken.
    That damn part is $84 + shipping.:eek2:

68620-0C023 Door Check (Left, Front) $83.72

Also, I noticed that my antenna has been shaking since I got it back from the dealership for cats.
I thought it was just loose because I pull it off in the car washes.
Noticed this weekend the bezel is broken.
I bet the dealership ran it thru their car wash tunnel with the antenna on.
The mast threads are also bent so I'm replacing it too.
So that was $160 to Sparks.
    God Bless.....

I feel your pain. I paid like $34 for a plastic inner fender clip not too long ago. I made four round trips to the dealer to get it -- once to order the part, once to pick it up, once to return it and re-order (they sent the wrong part in the correct bag), and then once more to return it (same thing -- wrong part in correct bag again) before ultimately ordering it from Sparks. I figure with the price of gas, that clip cost me $2,301.22 in the end.

Just be happy it didn't break at the body. Our Sienna had one bust, but it pulled part of the metal from the body

It costs us hundreds in body work.

Bastages! I just replaced the same antenna garnish on our 19 year old Sienna. Local stealership wanted $54 and I paid $30 online for the part, which is just a hunk of rubber.

    The bezel was only $9.
You can bet if I had the dealer fix it it would be $150 + with labor..
I'm pretty sure they broke it.

I dropped my fuse puller into the fuse box a few years ago, I don't like not having one I can keep in the fuse box.
    And I got my big $6.58 tundras.com 5% discount..:eek2:

Hell, it took me 7 years to get it like I want it.
Plus I love not having a vehicle payment..

Every little scratch and door dent used to bother me, but now I'm like 'screw it'.
I'll get myself a collection of door dents and then get my PDR guy to fix them all at once..

Even if I did trade it, it would be for a used 2020 or 2021 Platinum or Limited..
    There's no way in hell I'd buy a 2022.
I wouldn't even consider a Gen 3 until they get their shit together in a few years.

At first, I thought I'd take the one off the rear door and put it on the front and just remember to be easy on the rear door.
Uh, no, they are different parts...:(

Cmon man, can’t do me like that with the name change out in public bro.

I’m not sure if they’re still available but when buying (if they can be found) make sure to check the options box as there are several different kits that all look the same. I believe the kit for the first gen tundras (as well as a handful of other vehicles) was type 1. I may be able to find my purchase order

edit: the kits are no longer available because Russia

Unfortunately, I can believe it. I spent $75 for OEM horn (don't ask why...) and it broke within a month.

OEM's like making money on their parts!

The antenna is kinda tall, about an inch taller than the roof.
I use it in underground parking lots to make sure the truck will fit with my small lift.
As I creep under low-hanging objects, if it hits something I'll get out and look.

I went thru a couple of car washes when it was new and noticed the beating it took.
I still have the little OEM antenna wrench I keep in the glove box, it only takes a second to take on and off.

    94823d1375725062-question-front-antenna-_bfd536d8438754595cab56956625f9d3b5872bba.jpg

I don't know what bent the antenna back, it took a decent hit to bend back like that.
I'm only guessing their wash tunnel.
They had the truck for 8 months and moved it once a month.
It could have been a careless employee's elbow walking between the vehicles for all I know.
I do know I've got 2 new door dents, but I can't prove they did it.

That bushing has a slight rubber feel to it but it pretty much disintegrated.
It may just be from parking outside in Texas weather for 8 years.
I'm sure baking in 100+ temps for months at a time doesn't help.

I think it's more common for the post to break off in the mount..
The part breaking must be a fairly common occurrence.
I did find a youtube to help replace it when I get the part.

Here it is if anyone needs it..

I had that same broken clunk feeling in the door as you. I lived with it until someone hit the truck in that corner. Then insurance fixed it. Wouldn't recommend that route. I feel your pain though. At least the antenna garnish isnt too bad.

I had the same issue on my 2015....the housing around the antenna mount cracked and fell apart from the sun and then the antenna moving in car washes and highway use. Replaced with a new one and also went out and bought a new low-profile antenna. Haven't noticed much change in radio signal or HD radio reception, granted I live close to the broadcast towers. Keeps me from having to remove the antenna as well during car washes.

    Well fu(k me..
I usually search for the part numbers on Amazon and eBay.
Now I see them on both..
I guess I was so in shock I didn't think about doing it with this part.

I did search for the bezel on Amazon and it was $14.
Would have bought it if it was the only thing I needed..

Might be worth sending the OEM part back, even with return shipping and a restocking fee.
I try to buy OEM parts, but $70 more, that's BS.

    Oh well, lesson learned..

I just was referring to that same vid the other day as mine is indeed broken off in the threads. so waiting on it to be a bit cooler to go outside and see if I can extract the last portion of mast, or I have to replace the cable.

Well this is ironic. My 2020 has had a slight popping in the front driver's door check since I bought it new and this past month it has gotten worse just like in your video. I'm 1500 miles from being out of warranty, but the part came in today and they said they could do it this Saturday in about 30 minutes. It looks easy enough to do, but I figure if its under warranty they can mess with the door panel and speaker removal instead of me. I tried different lubrications, but nothing saved it. All the other doors have been perfect. Strange it seems to be a common problem with driver's side. Hopefully this one lasts. I wonder if there is a bushing in there that goes bad or if it just isn't machined correctly.
