Dealer that did my free oil changes called me about the recall. I checked my VIN on the Toyota website and it shows no open recalls. Almost 80k miles and no issues. I think they are just looking to make some money off Toyota. Dealer that called is not the one I bought the truck from.

May as well ask. Seems like not all trucks built during August to October 2021 were impacted. I have a 10/21 truck and apparently wasn't impacted.

i have a 2007 DC w 4.7... i got this recall letter as well... now my steering is ridiculously difficult to steer like i have to move it both ways manually all the time but on highways it moves a lot better but i avoid them until this is fixed but it is scary as hell to drive and with having two shoulder surgeries it's also physically difficult as well. Called dealer and they said it's just a safety check... and they keep dodging me and returning my calls... i bought my truck CPO and it has a new frame as well .. my question is have they identified a proper fix for this yet cus i feel like one of these days my number is going to be up and i'm going to get into an accident

so the recall is purely there just to make sure a faulty replacement rack wasnt installed in the truck. 99% of the older trucks dont have the affected rack. if you take it into the dealer they get a picture of the part number and QR code on the rack and upload it to a site to determine if its affected or not

if the frame was replaced and the racks original, something else may be the cause

its on top of the rack, through the passenger wheel well you can see the sticker.. not much you can do with just a picture. t

the affected racks were around 19-21 i think. (i cant remember for sure) so the rack would look really out of place with not much corrosion if the frame was replaced

Did you have your steering rack replaced since 2021? If not, this recall is not for you.

Dealer that was doing my free oil changes, not the one I purchased from, called me and left a VM. They said that there was a recall on steering racks and wanted to check mine. Just a scam to try to get me in so they could sell me something I did not need. Never received anything from Toyota.

Technically it’s not a “recall” on anything except I think the 21s. The rest are “warranty enhancements” the dealer gets paid by Toyota to inspect it so they try to get it on every truck that comes in

    Hey guys,
Someone on Facebook is having an issue with his 21 Tundra which has had the rack replaced under recall. It sounds like the dealer is throwing parts at it but specifically told him that the rack won’t be covered under warranty since it was replaced under the recall. From other posts I’ve read, the warranty on the replaced part is 12 months / 12,000 miles. If this is true, how can they issue a safety recall and basically force us to have the rack replaced and now reduce our warranty and made the part ineligible for replacement even with Toyota extended warranty? My tundra was only a couple months old when the recall was done so if I’m reading correctly I lost my warranty for the rack due to this recall even if I have the Toyota platinum extended warranty! By the way, the dealer that replaced the rack did not inform me that I lost the factory warranty due to the recall.
    Am I missing something?
    How can this be legal?

I wonder how this fits in with the 3rd Gen failed bearings.
