Has anyone seen this back up monitor in an 07-08 with a sunroof?

Mine doesn't have it (07 Crew Limited).
No OEM backup camera at all (aftermarket added later).

Edit. (if equipped) have you had any luck with the Homelink buttons on the mirror? Mine hasn't been able to learn my openers or my driveway gate, I figured the truck might be too old to work with modern openers.

My Homelink worked with my fairly new Genie belt drive opener.

Also, my 07 has that Back-Up system, it was a Port installed option, here it is from my spec sheet:
    PORT OR FACTORY INSTALLED EQUIPMENT
    5J Back-Up Camera w/Monitor Port Installed

    Interesting.

I haven't looked too deeply into it but I would like to eventually replace my aftermarket setup with an OEM camera. Mine is part of a chrome license plate frame that looks a bit tacky and it is starting to age.

Its not really the best system, pretty low res, it does not have any on screen guidance, the screen cannot be turned like a mirror so you have to move your head over to see it. I believe all the wiring is pre installed and it is just a bolt on. The locking mechanism broke on mine so it would stay down all the time blocking the mirror and you cannot get any replacement parts, you have to buy the whole kit. I just ended up using Velcro to hold it up.

i just want an OEM style camera in the tailgate handle. Already have an aftermarket Carplay head unit that displays the current camera, would stick with that.

You could just get the tailgate handle for the camera equipped trucks and probably retrofit one of several HD models.

Don't think the handles are extra cheap or anything, but would give you the clean look.

I have that oem monitor in gray if you’d like to purchase it?
You can run the camera lcd as well as home link mirror, or find a Gentex mirror from a 2010-2013 with the integrated lcd built in.
Bobs automotive mirrors makes a patch harness that allows you to use oem camera (6volts) to an after market screen and or he sells refurbished rear view mirrors.
Oem tailgate cameras is another good website for the tailgate garnish, oem camera and harness. 2007-2013 are presided if they are SE5 trims.
Don’t cheap out on the camera (6 volt not 12volt) and the tailgate handle.

There’s other companies that make tailgate handle cameras cheaper than oem. I’m not sure of the quality, but something to consider to save some money.

    Thanks.
I will take another stab at it when I have a chance. Be nice to not have an opener on my visor.

Hopefully your California location means no snow/freezing Temps. I would not trust that handle to hold up well if the mechanism were to freeze up.

TBH, the factory one doesn't feel all that robust to me either. But no, no snow/salt/freezing temps.

Just something to think about. I have a plate mounted one on my Silverado. The handle mounted one on the Tundra. The plate mounted one still works with the tale gate down. The handle mounted one just shows the bumper.

The factory Toyota handle is definitely NOT very robust. Which is why I can't imagine even attempting an almost guaranteed lower quality part in my climate.

The cam on my Tacoma is on the handle and to me seems like it has a much better field of view. Can count on one hand the times I have had to back up with the tailgate down.
That said, I am kinda old school and use the mirrors far more then the camera.
That and the Tundra has F&R parking sensors.
