If the lid used to be $60 and it’s now $225 they must have caught onto the demand from people buying Harrops and needing an upgrade lol. It is rather annoying Harrop doesn’t provide their own solution to this problem.

I can’t remember that far back and I recently discovered that I need this part to fix next bottleneck.

I was thinking…what are the odds of stretching over and sliding the entire Harrop provided rubber tube over this aluminum one and then just cutting the hole for the MAF sensor to go onto the aluminum tube? It would look a lot cleaner than using reducing couplers on each end.

I don't remember what the stock Harrop looked like. Sounds like it would be easier to mount a MAF to the tube. Lots of ways to skin the cat.

Hmm, if my lead on a magnuson one at a better price doesn’t pan out it could be worth a try. It looks like this.

I don't remember how it all connects, is the MAF on the ribbed tube?

No sure I understand replacing that ribbed section with a larger dia pipe when you have a restriction before it. I don't think you would get the full benefit but I'm not an airflow guy.

No the MAF mounts on the little stub of plastic tube coming right out of the airbox. It’s less about the tube diameter for flow for me and more about getting the MAF voltage ceiling taken care of. The throttle body necks down to 76mm (2.99”) anyway, so it’s not as if the 3.5” pipe can’t move enough air….it’s just that damn MAF voltage ceiling.

The aluminum pipe to me has a better bolt up location for the maf. The maf screws into plastic which I’ve seen cause issues of staying. So that alone to me is worthy of switching tubes

Wonder if this box is the same size as the 07-13 OE Airbox. Does anyone know?

The lower airbox is the same. 07-13 lower airbox is the same lower as the Magnuson lower, but the lid is different and that’s what matters. The lid on the 07-13 still has the smaller 3.5” MAF tube attached. The magnuson lid has the 4” MAF tube attached. Both the magnuson lid and the 07-13 lid do not fit the 14+ lower box.

When I was thinking about doing this I was actually going to cut the existing tube that comes out of the OE airbox lid that has the original MAF sensor mounted on it and leave maybe like a quarter inch or half inch of the tube sticking out and actually try to JB weld the aluminum one in Somehow to the existing airbox lid. I remember the OD of the existing tube especially right where it joined the lid was similar to the ID of the aluminum tube. I also found a plastic one identical to the aluminum one that’s used on the newer LS engines that have the same mounting point for the MAF sensor as the Toyota but it was also back ordered. The interesting part about this particular tube is that the MAF sensor mounting point was raised quite a bit above the body of the tube which made me think of something else The Something else I was thinking about was I used to have an MR2 Syder and one of the popular mods was to get Larger Celica GT injectors but then just use quarter inch spacers to raise the MAF sensor in the existing air intake, just lifting it up out of the tube itself tricks it into thinking it’s in a larger tube and would increase its capabilities. This mod would give that little engine about 25hp. Not sure if it would work on our trucks, but it always fascinating where our minds go and what can be accomplished with a little redneck engineering

Sweet! Thanks :) I still have my OEM Airbox. I guess I just need to buy the top and I might just buy the coupler too. I’m assuming it’s the same filter size?

The Magnuson intake and the 07-13 are the same filter size to my knowledge. If you have the rubber boot that came with the Harrop that should stretch over the Maggie lid and work perfect, no need to buy the other one. In fact the other one may not line up with the Angle of the Harrop inlet at all.

Vent cut in the test fender. Just need to mesh and see how it looks. Then I’ll create a template to do it on the glass on the truck.

So I’ve been in contact with someone who’s got a supercharged tundra. He just dropped his rig off at AFE where they’re going to R&D creating a new intake setup. So far only details I got are conical filter will be used. He mentioned having issues under boost with filters. So I imagine it’s what was mentioned here with the filter collapsing but waiting to hear back.
