Bought a 06 tundra 4.7 167k. Low compression on one cylinder. After tearing the head off I found someone had dropped a 10 mil bolt down the intake and was hanging up a valve. Had my buddy at the Toyota dealership inspect and replace all valves on that cylinder. On initial start it was quiet at first, but within two to three minutes it started making a ticking sound. Almost sounded like a diesel.

The noise was most prevalent from the front of the valve cover so I figured something had to be going on with a cam sprockets. Sure enough the cam gear on the exhaust valve had rotated should have put the service bolt in when I disassembled My dumb mistake. Hope this can help someone out in the future who may have made the same mistake as me. Thank you.

That's very funny but not, I dropped a 10mm nut into #7 and it got locked in between the valve. after driving it for 2 days. It was so hard to see all the way back there. Mine luckily started right up after removal.

No clue where it came from, I even taped everything off, it must have just been sitting in the crack and fell in when I removed the manifold.
