What is the name of Toyota dealership computer software enabling access to hidden features and systems? Is there any way for us as end-users to access these settings and make hidden feature changes to our own trucks?

In the manual there are lists of changes able to be made by us, and others that can only be made by the dealership. I disagree that some features should require a dealer visit (and upcharge). Hoping to learn about homegrown mods, etc.

    Thanks!

Thanks Azblue! I just ordered a Carista and going to give that a try and see what changes I can make. If that doesn’t work, or if the options aren’t great I’ll give the pseudo techstream a try! Thanks for all your advice guys I learned a ton this past hour!

This one is ok for changing basic functions. I recommend the vxdiag version as it does more advanced functions (tpms programming, etc.).

Take a look at Carly also. They’ve been amazing in the past, for programming my BMWs. Carly is available on the App Store.

Just be careful if the truck is still under warranty. Every time there is a connection from a computer to the truck a system tracking file is updated and a number held in this file is changed by +1. Toyoda will know this has happened. if there is a service at the dealership this number and Toyotas number agree. I don't know how this might effect warranty claims. Also any changes by other handhelds also changes this file.
Toyota has done this for several years on all their vehicles, but I don't know if it has ever used this to deny a claim. I just know it is there. I worked for TMM for 14 years and saw it while working in Japan.

You really want to hook up a Chinese knock off cable along with russian hacked software to your $60k+ truck? Just buy a tactrix cable for $200, made in the USA, and get a 2 day subscription to the real Toyota Techstream for about $75. Plus they have a great support line if you run into difficulties

Buy the cable direct from tactrix, here is the link to the Real techstream https://techinfo.toyota.com/techInfoPortal/appmanager/t3/ti?_pageLabel=ti_ts_lite&_nfpb=true

I ordered Carista off Amazon Friday and it arrived Sunday. With the free month trial I was able to adjust the settings that were important to me. Is it missing anything? Yeah I'm sure it's not in as in depth as Tech Stream.... but it was $40 and took 10 minutes to flip through all the settings on my phone and make appropriate updates.

I turned off engine enhanced sounds, seat chimes for all 5 seats (dog was tripping the rear seats), set blinkers to 5 (from factory 3) when you just flick to turn signal. Turned the parking sensors to short distance alerts, setup windows down with long press on fob and I think a couple other things as I was scrolling through.

Has anyone asked the dealer to make these changes? I will take mine in next month for service and was planning to ask about the fake engine noise...

If you are having other stuff done they may do it as a courtesy. I'll happily take care of engine noise removal gratis for anyone that needs help near me.
