Mine is also pretty terrible. At first I thought it was because of the case. Even without the case, I get inconsistent charging. I have the same issues with my wife's and daughters' phones (all are different kinds of phones).

I've had a wireless charger in my last four vehicles, and every one of them has sucked...

Yeah, Toyota's wireless charger is pretty terrible. Too low of wattage output means it generates more heat than actual charge to the phone battery. In my Tacoma (which im pretty sure had the same wireless charging thingy, if I was using nav w/ wireless CarPlay and had my phone on the wireless charger it would actually cause it to overheat and shut off after about 2 hours.

This is a toyota thing, they just cant get it right. It doesnt work for shit in my folks 2021 platinum Highlander, didnt work for shit in the tundra platinum test drive truck I drove, didnt work for shit in the 2022 Sienna loaner we had.

I tested a GMC AT4 and it worked perfect and cooled your phone as well, LOL.

my guess is they jsut dont have enough coils or large enough coils, it just wont stay connected.

I don't have the constant connect/disconnect problems, but the charging sucks. Using Android auto with maps and Pandora there isn't enough output to actually charge the phone. I've gone on a couple 2hr trips and every time my battery at the end of the trip is the same as when I started or just 1% higher.

That wouldn't be too bad, if it just stayed connected and not lose anything it would be fine for me.

You have to remove any and all cases for the Toyota wireless charger to work. And it barely works even then, GMC, Ford, and RAM have all achieved decent charging rates. But Toyota does not even match the power draw from wireless carplay.

I don't want to have to take my case off every time, thats lame. Why can everyone else figure this out but toyota?

I have a very thin MagSafe compatible case that works really well in all other vehicles and wireless chargers so if thats the issue, kinda odd

I agree, I have leather MagSafe case that charged great in my Ford. But Toyota always tells me there's an interruption in charging after 5 seconds if I leave the case on, it's beyond me. Ford would even charge airpod pro's at the same time. But I know based on your experience today Ford is out of the question. I just know I feel the same way about my Tundra at the moment unfortunately.

ya, I feel like I cant win right now, the QC on the tundra is sub par big time right now and then the fiasco with the powerboost today.

I think the best truck on the market at the moment is a 2016 platinum tundra with 76K miles on it, HA!

I was waiting in car line for my son yesterday and playing with My wireless charger. If you turn the music all the way down you can “hear” it. I would move my iPhone a little bit and it sounded like an old CD ROM (for you older folks) that was looking for a file. Then it would “connect” and charge and then drop. I’d move and the cycle starts over.

I guess this will never be an issue worth correcting for Toyota but I’d like it to work and I don’t want to cut my dash open to fix it. Maybe somebody will develop an aftermarket plug-n-play to replace the unit. I’d buy it.

I would think you would have to open it up and install bigger or better coils to fix it oem style

I was messing around with the one in my moms platinum highlander the other day she I took her out to lunch and I couldn’t get that one to stay connected either , just like the one in the tundra tested , it just keeps cycling off

I have both a 22 1794 and a 22 F350, the ford one sucks charges at about 10% per hour iPhone 12 with thin otterbox does not fit and sits sideways. G3 tundra charges fast fits in upright easily very good charge pad imo. Not sure about thicker cases.

I had that issue when I first got my truck. Would not stay connected. I rebooted my phone and it has worked fine since ?!?!

Is there suppose to be a light showing it is on when you put phone in tray? I have nothing other than light above shinning down in tray.

I am using a basic Otterbox case, seems to work fine. As I mentioned, did not stay connected initially but rebooted phone and it has been working correctly since.

I think I may have found a potential fix for wireless charging issues. I was having all the issues mentioned so far with my iphone 13 pro max with a silicone magsafe case so today I placed the phone upside down and it never lost connection even over bumps on my 45 minute drive to work. So try placing the phone upside down and see if it solves the problem!

I had an iPhone XS Max and the charger worked fine. I moved to an iPhone 13 with the same brand of case and it will not consistently charge. Maybe the camera increases the thickness??? I have tried multiple cases with no luck. One case was thin with multiple holes in the back for cooling. Didn’t work so I have given up.
