New to the forum. Appreciated everyone's input. My May 2015 OE 27F battery finally gave up the ghost and I found this forum while researching for a new one. Couldn't select a battery from the survey because my brand wasn't listed. A prior reply that referenced an H8 battery I believe made me put my thinking cap on. I decided on a Duralast but was undecided on a gold 27F or platinum 24F. Brought my tape measure with me and started measuring the available ones on the rack. Turns out the H7 is almost the same size as the 27F but not listed to fit the truck. At Auto Zone, if it shows it doesn't fit, they won't install it. I pulled out my dead one and brought the plastic tray into the store. Battery base was about 1/4" longer than the plastic tray but same width. Height was about 1/4" shorter but the hold down rods have enough extra thread to accommodate. The base is made to be used with a battery hold down system that clamps at the base, not over the top of the battery. I cut slits in the plastic tray on both sides on either side of the of battery base hold down lip, scored along the inside of the tray between the slits on either side of the base hold down extension and bent the section down. Perfect fit. Battery will rest entirely on the tray and the hold down rods had just enough tread to secure it. Without the tray it wouldn't work, not enough extra treads. Here's the specs:
Duralast Platinum AGM Battery H7-AGM Group Size 94R 850 CCA (1000 cranking amps),140 reserve minutes. Weight 53.5 lbs. $200. I bought this one because it was $30 more than the gold and same price as the 24F and living in upstate NY plus having a plow which really loads the charging system at full hoist, dims the headlights, I wanted as many CCA's as I could get for the cold stuff we get here and supposably the AGM batteries have a quicker recovery and can tolerate deeper drains which the plow definitely does. And I confirmed before purchasing it that installing a battery that they say doesn't fit doesn't void the warranty. Hopefully I never need to find that out.
So more power, more weight (?more lead?), Perfect fit and a decent price. Didn't have any more time to research it so bought it. When I got home I checked to see if Sam's Club had an H7 AGM and they do. Duracell! Looks identical in the picture to the Duralast and about $20 less, bummer. And the Duracell had very good reviews in Consumer Reports, up there with the Odyssey. Wondering which is the rebranded one, Duracell or Duralast. Thinking Duracell makes the Duralast.
So with me being a contrarian hopefully all you all now have another option to consider. Cheers! Z out...

Why are there so few 27F group batteries in AGM ? Looks like X2 is the only one I can find.

I ordered the Rago battery box, for group 31 today. And I ordered the Odyssey Extreme 31-PC2150T battery.

I'll be replacing the stock battery, as I am adding a Summit topper with the furnace, and I don't want to kill my truck battery.

If needed, I'll add a second battery in the back.

Finally got my X2 installed, CCA was a must, not completely finished, but the short positive cable is interesting, had to manipulate the connector, but it is secure
