17" Wheels on 07+ Tundra

Did you ever get this fixed? I had a hard time finding the right shop to balance my 17s. Even the Toyota dealership couldn’t balance them without the weights hitting the calipers and flying off. Finally found a shop the had the right weights. But I’m considering going back to 18’s possibly.

 

I took it back to Discount Tire and they re-balanced them. There’s still a slight shimmy, but it’s nowhere near as bad as before. I had a worse shimmy running 275/70/18 BFG ATs when I had 18’s, but I’ve never had a set of BFGs that could be balanced right anyway.

Anyway, I’d stick with that one tire shop you found that knows how to balance them. The first tech who did mine was a really young guy who looked like he just graduated high school, so he probably wasn’t as experienced as one who’d been mounting and balancing tires for many years.

 

Hey guys, new to the forum.. Has anyone done the older 6-lug 17" TRD wheels on a second generation Tundra or Sequoia (with an adapter of course). Just think the older wheels look better. I know the offset is different, but wondering if the adapter/spacer makes up for that. Thanks!
