    Looking to go with the gx460 lexus upgrade. Just curious if you guys are buying oem calipers rotors and pads. Or a combo of oem calipers and aftermarket pads and rotors. All suggestions welcomed. Oh.also brake line recommendations.

    Whats the reason for change??
    Mine developed a shimming when braking hard or firmly, tried aftermarket pads to no avail. So I changed out the rotors and pads again and that solved it, no shimmy ever since, yippee
    Dont laugh but I got everything from AutoZone, yep AutoZone, Toyota was way high and it was their product that failed anyways lol

    I was driving down a mountain and had to follow a dump truck. Brakes were cooked by the time I got down to the bottom with serious fading going on. What about that Z package upgrade forgot if it was z36 or z32.

    Thats just the newer 03+ calipers that have larger pads and same sized rotors.

    @FirstGenVol Are you still having issues? I just did the GX460 brake upgrade and I really like it. The pedal feels like stock.

    OP, I bought these calipers (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DKKDNRR?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details) and painted them gloss black. I then bought PowerStops kit (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00O6QJSVQ?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details). I aslo bought new stainless steel brake lines for the front and rear. I've very please with the upgrade. I did have the system flushed with new brake fluid too.

    I've had a nightmare with mine but other people haven't had any issues. Sorry to not give a more helpful answer before.

    I bought my calipers from Rock Auto and had a machine shop mill the ears for me. Installed them myself.

    Absolutely LOVE it. In hindsight, I consider it mandatory on these old trucks. As a somewhat aggressive driver, it has legit saved me a few times.

    It seems like the DC's and Sequoia handle the upgrade the best without needing a different MC

    Just out of curiosity for those of you with dc’s @912 @2006Tundra @rock climber yall got the normal MC or the stupid expensive with vsc?

    I’d love to do this but like a dumb*** bought 16 inch wheels. So more or less info gathering at this point

    Which wheels did you pick up? Just curious. As soon as the wheels I'm eyeballing are available, I'm dropping some coin and will be offloading my OEMs.

    Method 304 double standards, I’ve had em for awhile, should’ve went 17s when I swapped to em. At the time I hadn’t really looked into the big brake upgrade and figured it wouldnt be something I’d ever want or need.

    I'm still using the stock MC. The pedal feels solid, and the stopping power is nice. I also went for braided SS lines (front and rear) and had a 100% brake fluid exchange.

    You may be able to use 16" wheels. If my memory is correct, when I was doing the BBK, for shits and giggles, I put my 2004 Tacoma spare (16") on the 06 DC, and it cleared the GX460 caliper. I'll need to confirm. If I have some time after work today, I'll swap wheels.

    As long as Jim does your calipers you shouldn't have the same headache I did. I used a local machine shop. I have no clue what went wrong with mine but I never could get rid of mushy pedal. I would have to double pump to prime them. Two years of trying everything I could to make them work before giving up. As soon as I removed them and went back down to stock size calipers it was fine.

    I was also having a horrible rattle that went away when I pressed the brakes. That's how I finally realized the calipers were FUBAR'd. They were rattling against the spindle where they bolt up.

    No more rattle with the new calipers.

    That’s sucks. I actually thought about having a local machine shop mill them, but I kinda figured it would ne starting from scratch from them. Buy once cry once. I’m gonna replace my rear shoes as well as all 3 rubber brake lines. Fingers crossed no mushyness. Eventually I’m gonna do the T-100 Mc upgrade as well. But the boat trailer needs brakes first.

    Big brake upgrade is completed. Not gonna say it’s a “massive improvement” but most definitely better than the stock set up. To be fair I did new shoes out back, as well as steel braided lines front and rear. All at the same time Tried using my neighbors bleeder but couldn’t get it to work. So had the warden pump brakes for me One thought. Get the banjo bolts from Chase bays. I bought 4 different. Bolts of the same size they were the only ones I could get to snug down. Also wheelers steel brake lines were used All in all Im happy. I’ll probably do the t-100 master cylinder / booster upgrade later

    I got calipers from Jim smola. He’s on Facebook tundra pages. I don’t think they are mushy. Bought the same feel as before replacing. Just better stopping power I may do the t-100 upgrade in the future. But for now they work. Next is raptor lining the shell and front bumper
