Exactly - said it many times - every manufacturer has produced dogs and even the most notorious dogs have a few in the batch that won’t die. It’s all luck of the draw - but at the same time - why not go where the odds are more favorable.

Extreme reliability on any Ram brand product is contradicted by their track record of the last 30 years - likewise Toyota is supported by their track record.

Does not mean Ram could not get it right tomorrow nor does it mean a new Toyota is guaranteed problem free. Simple fact is though go to any Ram forum and read the complaints - read here and outside of 3rd gens - read the complaints - then rate them in severity/seriousness. Ram has more of both complaints and serious complaints.

I’m not even touching the “you need to make this much to buy a vehicle costing x” discussion. Buy what you enjoy - only saying there are more cost effective ways to get things like horsepower and performance. At 100k plus - your pushing into low end super car territory.

The Capstone argument - again - I wouldn’t buy one and don’t think they will maintain the vaunted Toyota resale value. It ultimately comes down to economics 101 - the lowest cost equal substitute will likely be the buyers preference and ultimately the value of everything else will be in line with the cost of an available lowest cost substitute. When your talking these special editions - prices will drop dramatically as the novelty wears off.

Go ask a Chevy SSR owner about how much the values increased for example. And again these were more limited production. For a moment dealers got sticker plus markup - but eventually values dropped. Hell at one point I can recall dealer added markup on a PT Cruiser being common - clearly that didn’t last forever.

I know Dave Ramsey catches a lot of crap but some of his principles are good ones to live by IMO. Living on less than you make, and within your means is smart. I think his general rule of household car value should not exceed 50% of household gross income especially if you’re saddled with a lot of other debt is a good rule of thumb. Beyond that suggestion, I’ll keep my nose out of every else’s finances.

You quoted my Dave Ramsey statment that I said to the discussion on income to expense ratio to drop that line? jfc how long have you been wanting to say that circa 1990 quote. What's next "wanna fight, stick your head up your ass and fight for air"

Since the titans axle seal leak, and they swapped in a 3.36 diff instead of the 2.92. She rowdy, no doubt, but it pulls 19 instead of 22 between home and houston. Best the 135k '02 tundra can pull is 18.7. And is closer to 18.1. 14.4mpg with 2500 lb of tractor on a 2500 lb trailer. the titan hasnt ever had a reciever, and still has all the bumper plugs. But has hauled 2k lbs of cinder blocks and rocks easy breezy, no need for more than 25% throttle. In fact holding 55 through the chicanes and hills is pretty efficient, as long as you keep off the brakes.

Based on how our country and its citizens are swimming in debt, I’d say 80% of people fall into those 2 categories.

Agree with you on this. I know a couple people that get a little equity in their home, toss on a heloc and act like they have unlimited wealth.

I’d buy a Kawasaki H2 that will smoke almost anything, a 2.5 Gen Tundra and add a supercharger to it, take a trip to Europe, and still pocket five figures rather than pay that price for that truck.

To each their own, whatever you prefer to drive. I will say this, I've owned boats that were more reliable than my brother's 2013 Ram.

I would assume Ram ownership is like boat owne
Would it be bad use of debt to trade high IV% out of the money options on margin ?

I was actually considering purchasing a TRx despite reliability concerns, but a forum member who I’ve been talking back and forth with daily pointed out the requirement for premium fuel on top of the 10 mpg it gets.

the $10k off msrp would get are up quick

I'm jelly. If I keep going I may get there but I'll still be SoL on the warranty. Won't be able to keep it below cost.

I wish my Tundra could use this type of fuel. Who am I kidding, I'm not a loyalist. I'll take whatever the cheapest fuel the competition uses too.

I just want to make my mark on this thread before it closes. I've got nothing worth contributing here. I know my place.

After reading up on all these prices people pay for trucks, I literally fell poor and depressed. In order to redeem my status, I stopped by at hibachi Chinese buffet and had a few plates. I still don't know how much bill is going to be, but given how long they haven't cleaned the place, I'm optimistic.

I don’t believe you’ve had multiple plates. One man can’t handle that much MSG without feeling like a steamy pile o’poo.

You and everyone else. How many people have their 100k dollar trucks paid off? Yeah there will be a few, but not many.

Agreed. Contemplating selling my Pro and getting a new 5.0 F150 and adding a Whipple to it. The 10 spd auto and 775hp sounds like a great combo. I'd add a Whipple to the Tundra but it doesn't make anywhere near the power the Coyote makes and the 6spd can't figure out what to do already at stock power. I've had two 5.0 Mustangs in the past with no issues and currently on my second Tundra.
