I like that setup. Is there enough clearance to where your leg doesn't touch the mount?

Just bought, so I have only mounted a holster under the steering wheel, disabled the DRLs and plasticoated the grill. But I am open to ideas!
I have a 1st Gen Tundra that I bought recently. I mounted a custom kydex holster under the steering wheel, in that cut out space to the right. All I did was take off the panel, get the holster where I wanted it, mark where the holes needed to be and drill. Bolted the holster on loosely, put my (unloaded) 1911 in, then used a heat gun to finish molding the holster to the panel as I tightened it down. Retention is great, it's out of sight, doesn't interfere with anything, plenty of clearance for my legs, and perfectly legal here in Tennessee with OR without a permit. I can post a pic or two if anyone is interested.

Heavy duty velcro should work fine. I've used it for all sorts of things in a DPS squad car and it's always held up

It's not the Velcro that fails... the sticky fails due to the summer heat.

I understand that....Texas is a hot state and I've used velcro on the inside of the squad car and in the trunk of the squad car....it held up in the extreme heat and cold

That's impressive then. I tried using it to hold a holster and it failed within a couple days. With the handgun in it.

Caveat: Your statement only applies to handguns in Colorado. Rifles and shotguns fall under the hunting laws so they can not be loaded (In the chamber.)

Great thread - I’ll be doing this set up for my Glock 23. Another reason why I love Alaska - no need for a CCL, we can own as many guns as we want, and we can open carry if we so choose

There are screws specifically for plastic and a provided template for drilling pilot hole. I opted to use bolts with a washer and nuts on the inside. I drilled using the template and then removed the center console to mount. A lot of people just use the provided screws for plastic and don't secure from the back and report that It A still completely stable. If you go that route 5 minutes. If you secure from the rear 1 hour.

Well, at least you could effectively defend the start of WW3. I say add the rest of the 3 empty spots in the foam and another box of ammo, just to be safe. :D

I’m just like you, I have a “few” spare magazines placed....everywhere.

Nice out of the box setup you designed.

I don't like keeping a weapon out in the open so I keep my "throw away" PF9 up in one of the sunglass holders, with a couple of extra mags in another.

Access is just as quick, if not quicker, than having it in the console, which I did try for a bit.

EDC is a PPS but I don't always have that on me due to work restrictions.

I don't like the idea of it flopping around in there, or the fact that it's not going to always be in exactly the same spot/orientation if I need it in a hurry.

Mine isn't kept in the open, just when driving. When I am out of the car it transfers to my person and travels with me, or when appropriate, gets locked in the truck.

Well I decided to do something with the void in front of my console. I don't know what they intended for this space to do. Maps perhaps, don't know. Anyway I took some of my pick and pluck left over and cut it to fit . I made 3 cut outs , 2 for my Walther PPS mags and 1 for my Canik 18 rd mag. Fits pretty good and very quick access.

Maglite has a rechargeable flashlight that I wired into the electrical system, mounted it on the left side of my counsel, just had to make sure that the seat adjustment doesn't affect it. Looks great and always has power, it recharges every time I turn on the key
