Well in the time I have been with my wife, she has owned 2 brand new vehicles, both Rav4s. After she purchased her first one she told me that I would be getting the next new off the lot vehicle, well one hailstorm that only damaged her vehicle later, that changed. Insurance was going to cut her a check for $9300 to fix her first Rav, the local dealer offered her$19,500, a $1000 over what we owed, to get her in a 2020 Rav4, I told her she would be stupid not to take that offer. Flash forward to earlier this year I put a $500 deposit on a new Tundra. Flash further forward to today and I took ownership. I traded my 2018 Cav Blue TRD PRO Tacoma on the 2022 Army Green SR5 TRD Offroad Tundra. I have only drove it to work so far but it seems to be a massive upgrade over the ole' Taco, not that there was anything wrong with said Taco. There are a few cosmetic things that I will eventually get to, like removing the devils chrome and blacking out the wheels (maybe bronzing) but for now I am a happy camper and so far love this vehicle.

    To much to list:)
That top picture really makes those trucks have such a big nose!!!:). Other than that nice vehicle. Beginning to like that green on the new trucks, I think that chrome in flat black would look nice.

You’re going to enjoy the Tundra a lot more than the taco. The comfort level, especially the driving position, of the Tundra is very good. Legs going down instead of out ahead is massively better on long drives.

Congrats! I love that color. I got lucky and fell into a 2022 Limited in that same color. Also trading from a 2021 Tacoma. I love the Tacoma, but I *REALLY* love the Tundra.

Wife has a 2021 rav4 hybrid XSE and we both love driving it. It's a lot of fun. also, 37mpg is nice to have with California gas prices. :D

what's the first thing you're going to do with the Tundra?

I installed the factory running boards last night, financed them with the truck. The dealership was gonna charge $185 to install them and said it would take 2 hours, 16 11mm bolts with an impact later I was done in 20ish minutes.

I would really like to get a Diamondback bed cover and the Decked storage system, but my Head of Finacial Operations is telling me I must wait a while.

I've noticed that so far, granted only in town driving but yes it is way more comfortable.

She likes it, she was not initially excited about getting a larger truck but I kept telling her with 2 kids we definitely needed the extra room for them. After using it this weekend to haul a load of firewood for a buddy as well as the family outing weekend she is way more excited about it over the taco.

    Congrats

    Nice looking ride.

I honestly will admit I was not a fan at first of the gen 3 - but am slowly changing that opinion.

The color choices are growing on me, the added features are nice and on some of the colors (army green being the best of them in my opinion) it looks damn good.

Actually looked at one recently with Mrs myself - she wants out of her Jeep Grand Cherokee she has had for a few months. Talked her into at least looking at a truck - she loves the Tacoma look - but agreed too small of a cab height wise - looked at Tundra together but too big for her - and as much as I liked it just too hard to turn in my 21 Pro at this point. Now she wants some stupid euro SUV (choices are Porsche, Audi or Land Rover) - faced with those 3 - I’d rather have a Jeep - at least support is easy to find when they inevitably break down. Tried talking into Toyota suv - but I think those “prestige” name plates are winning - biggest complaint about the Jeep she even admits - they are “too common”. Me personally - if it’s reliable I don’t care if everyone else owns one too - but thats me and she deserves to own what she wants.

Good for you though on the purchase and hope it gives you many years of enjoyment. Clearly the 22 had to move the needle quite a bit for you and honestly I think for someone who drives a truck daily the good (the upgrade in features and the improved mpg as well as better transmission) outweighs the potential negative (the new engine).

Keep reading and posting - good site here and a ton of into - and I’m sure you will be able to offer some valuable insight on the 22 for those of us who will eventually be in the market for a gen 3.
