Hello. I found my 2004 Tundra yesterday, one owner, 4.7 L, 208,000 miles. I looked up service records and I found 13 items addressed at 187,000 miles. The ones I have questions about are shown below.

#1) WATER PUMP W/ TIMING BELT & DRIVE BELTS, R&R WATER PUMP W/ TIMING BELT & DRIVE BELTS, R&R~|~WATER PUMP W/ TIMING BELT & DRIVE BELTS, R&R~|~ ~|~WATER PUMP W/ TIMING BELT & DRIVE BELTS, R&R

#4) CUSTOMER DOES NOT WANT WORK DONE~|~BOTH FRONT SHOCK BUSHINGS SHIFTING DUE TO AGE~|~ ~|~CUSTOMER DOES NOT WANT WORK DONE

    Here are my concerns:

#1) It looks like the timing belt was replaced. I cannot find a sticker anywhere under the hood showing that this was done. Where would the sticker be?

#2) It looks like the "POWER RACK & PINION ASSY" was replaced. Is that "a thing" with this generation?

#3) Does anyone know what "O-Ring" is needed for the dipstick and where I might get it?

#4) I am not really sure what shock bushings shifting means on #4. Any help?

I am working on my first day of ownership. Any help is appreciated!

Oil dip stick o-ring should be about $2.00, Front shock bushing warn, it has 208K miles. Put some new shocks on it.

Thanks! Any idea on where to get the O-Ring?

I am going to an online Toyota dealer I use for the shocks (I have 3-MR2's) unless I am convinced otherwise.

    In any case, THANKS!.

Worth checking the 'for sale' section on the forum. It's the reason I joined up in the first place. I managed to score a barely used set of shocks, locally, for a very reasonable price, for my 2013 2nd gen whose mileage (for it's age) makes yours looks barely run in.

I can't say if the rack and pinion is an issue on your model but the fact that you have a new unit that was put in 20,000 miles ago is likely to mean that it's going to be a good long while before it becomes an issue for you.

EDIT: As for the 'o' ring it probably isn't worth jacking around, give your local Toyota stealership's parts dept a call and order one - for small consumables, IMHO, it's not worth risking some poorly fitting part sourced from Amazon for the sake of a couple of cents.

Here is one answer for my O-Ring question.

Engine Oil Dipstick Tube Seal - Toyota (96721-19010)

Maybe not. It is still on backorder!
