So my question is how short of a rock slider is to short in length wise I see so many different rock sliders made and different lengths it makes me wonder what should the length be. Is there a formula to use like hight, wheel size and break over to net a non need to cover area? If it slightly short should it favor the gap in the rear to be closed since the front tire should put any thing to worry about so many inches back?

2"CB shackles, bushings and 1 shim, lockerdown console vault, rear folding seat back mod, snugtop shell with opening side windows, 46g fuel tank, SDHQ sliders and hidden winch, Decked Drawers, Alcan leaf springs and got rid of the interior chrome
Best is as long as possible. You want to have the front end of the slider catch the impact of rolling off a boulder and you want the back end of the slider to have a slight kick out so that it will push your truck away from a rock that could cut your sidewall.

Here's a link to an old post that perfectly illustrates why you want a longer slider. It simply provides more coverage.

There are problems with both. Too short and you risk banging your rocker panels and doors on the rocks.

But most of, if not all of, the full length sliders I've seen, have the ends hanging out completely unsupported. If you come down on the rocks hard enough, with the tundra being such a heavy truck, those unsupported ends flex up and still damage your rocker panels and doors.

Which is why I'm going to just make my own sliders.
