I find that I'm always tweaking my Gaia layers to try and find the best combo. I typically run this setup during the summer so that I can see fire and smoke updates. I also like to know who's property I'm on - no point going down an unknown trail if you know it's leading to someone's personal property. I stopped using USFS 2016 because I have found it to be inaccurate and it doesn't really play well with the other layers.

Maybe I'm not using my Gaia to it's full potential. Which is why I want to know which layers do you use and why?

Hmmmmm. I just tested it out. It doesn't play well with my Satellite Topo base layer. I'm not able to see the MVUM or USFS trails that it states it includes o_O

I put the Overland map as my base layer:

Compared that with my original setup and the MVUM trail is present:

Maybe they still need to work on it :monocle:

This is my basic layout. I add public and private land if I have a question about where I am. I found using the USFS and USGS maps together helps me find more of the old overgrown trails that fall out of use. Swapping transparency back and forth.

Gaia recently released this map pack specifically for off road. The Overland pack they call it. Seems good from the toilet so far.

Gonna check out USGS. I just did a comparison of the Overland map and it doesn't appear to be complete.

I’ve been using Gaia topo as my base, and overlay MVUM (USFS). Rather interested to see what you guys are using, and how you’re using them as mine is about as basic as it gets - but it’s been getting the job done.
Granted I usually try to pre-route the trails I’m headed for so they’re visible.

I was having similar issues. Seemed as if some layers were conflicting or not even appearing.
