Did a rack and pinion replacement on my mom's 2008 Focus w/168k miles on it. The car spent the majority of its life in WA state.

If the Tundra's rack is this much fun to swap out, my Toyo mechanic will be handling that job.

All boxed up ready to go back for a core refund.

I changed my wife’s catalytic converter last year on her 2012 focus. I had to unbolt the engine and move it to get the job done. It was a PITA

You fancy with those pneumatic tools.

    just jealous. Nice work though!

sometimes keeping busy helps. I’m like that, to an extent. Keeping busy and doing things can help process thoughts. Seems counter intuitive but it works. It’s a process

hope you’re doing okay and props for helping the mom out

Yeah I like to do stuff when I'm mad or upset. I get super industrious. Guess that's why the ol lady likes to piss me off so much :p

I'm behind the times when it comes to battery operated impacts etc. I still love my air compressor tools.

While replacing a stabilizer end link I noticed the driver side boot on the rack had come loose. As I was trying to get it back on, I looked over at the passenger side and saw that one was completely bunched up as if the piston is rotating. I've never seen that before.

Any ideas as to how this is happening?
