I have a buddy that had a Raptor. He's a photographer by trade and took it to Baja to shoot a race. While prerunning some of the course to find a good spot to shoot he ended up blowing up the front diff. After he got it stateside he tried to warranty it through Ford. The told him to piss off as he had taken the truck offroad and that voids the warranty. The Nissan Titan he had before that never gave him that big a problem. He got rid of the Raptor and bought an old Bronco that has a cage and long travel.

There's a blue one riding around my area that's blacked out similar to my truck. Thing is sick.

One day I was driving down the road in my company vehicle and saw the thing from a distance. My heart went in my throat for a half a second. I seriously thought someone had stolen my truck. Haha

our trucks might as well be Aluminum bodied for how thin the sheet metal is. You can certainly redneck hooptie a Tundra for a lot less than a Raptor costs.

stock for stock a standard F150 is, IMO, a much better looking truck than the Tundra. Raptor....not so sure. Pro as an upgrade to standard Tundra doesn't compare to Raptor as an upgrade to standard F150. Pro is an SR5 with nice shocks and body color grill.

The aluminum body hasn't been around long enough to speak to durability but I'm understanding that body shops absolutely hate trying to repair damage. The Chevy add where they dropped the tool box in the bed seems convincing but I'm a skeptic about any advertising.
What does "redneck hooptie" mean? Upgrades to suspension and tires?
I totally disagree about looks, but that is subjective as hell. I much prefer the styling and appearance of the tundra. There's really not much competition for the raptor from the pro though, at least in "initial quality ". It would take a pretty radically modified pro to even keep up, I believe. But many raptors won't be running in 3 years and many Tundras will be running strong in 30.
I wouldn't trade my pro for a raptor straight across (unless I was allowed to immediately sell). Just my.02

re body shops I've read the time required is MUCH higher for AL bodied vehicles and entirely different techniques have to be learned. not a good thing for the insurance bill methinks.

redneck hooptie meaning 3" of tire sticking out on tacky wheels and godawful obnoxious exhaust.

What!?! How can Ford say you void the warranty if you take your Raptor off road? That is crazy.

That Raptor should be covered per Ford.

I have a 2003 Corvette Z06. All unmodified Corvettes since 1999 are covered under the Chevrolet factory warranty at the race track.

Should be. But it wasn't. He battled with dealership for a while about it. It's all in the fine print. Taking it offroad voids the warranty.

That reminds me of American top 3 claiming their suv's held best in off road Racing and BMW legal disclosure was not an off road vehicle on their suv..however during test drives in South America and Africa, American top 3 ended at the end while bmw and 3rd on their not an off road behicle

Magnesium burns not aluminum. I've got it burning while cutting it on a lathe. Be sure and have a Class D fire extinguisher or buckets of sand handy. Aluminum wont burn. I've machined pleanty of it.
