I have owned a JD L120 with a 20 hp OHV Intek V twin B&S since 2003. Have had very few problems with the tractor itself, but the B&S engine has been a constant headache! Every summer I can count on it to present a new problem I haven't encountered before. Fortunately I know my way around an engine and thank god for the internet, so I have been able to fix it on my own. Other wise I would have spent a small fortune on repairs. This is the second B&S V twin I have owned, the first one was bullet proof, thats why I bought another one. Don't think I will buy a third one though. Probably go with a Kawasaki next time!

This is my 8 y/o, today. This '73 Deere came home when I was 1 and it's never left. Folks sold it to me when I was 12. I think my boy wants it now.

John Deere X300, nine yrs old with approx 100 hrs on it. I sodded 14 thousand sq feet of centipede grass when we custom built our home 9 yrs ago. We live on a fairly high ridge so seeding was not an option. I only cut grass approx 8-9 hrs a summer, it a low maintenance slow grower. Centipede also called the "lazy mans" grass, I call it the smart mans grass since I cut grass very little. Also very little fertilizer and weed control, drought tolerant, goes dormant all winter, chokes out other weeds, no over seeding as it spreads slowly. Essentially I have lots of other fun hobbies/things to do mowing not being high on the list haha.

Is your house a Don Gardner designed home? Looks very similar to mine.

Yes it is. But with a 2600 sq ft full daylight basement (4) car garage, and we removed many of the non load bearing walls in the plan to really open it up in the kitchen, dinning room, family room great room. Very cool you noticed. Pic?

Caution flag on Bermuda, in my experience it requires a lot of maintenance, is invasive takes over garden beds, requires timely fertilizer and lime. Also not so disease tolerant. I will never plant it or sod it again. FWIW..

Centepede is a warm weather grass. It won't survive long cold winters. We are about as far north as this grass will grow and stay healthy.

Haha...very nice! We have been in ours 9 yrs and love it. Great floor plan! It took our builder 13 months from start to finish, but worth the wait. We had a lot of interior custom work done, also extended main garage size. Enjoy that Don Gardner home!!

Rear...deck is high and provides a great view of the lake we live on.

Well before buying our home in Colorado, my wife and I decided I would take care of the outside of the house and she'd take care of the inside. That being the case, my mower is a local landscaping company that comes by every Wednesday morning.

Just bought a second house in Texas - front yard has some mowing to do, but only a little strip around the edges in the back due to a pool and 3+ car garage. I suppose I'll do some mowing in Texas, then have to jump in the pool cuz it's freekin' hot there.

Wow, i could really nerd out on this thread since i spent so much time cutting grass in my youth. Started out on a grasshopper 225 then bought a 15hp bobcat walk behind, belt driven. Mowed for myself for about 8 years. While mowing for myself i also was the groundskeeper in high school and then in college i worked for our local government as their head turf guy. I cant find any old old pictures, but here is one of my rigs in college and then a scag i used to cut with too.

I've got it's grandfather the HS55, it's nearly as old as I am but still runs like a champ.

I mow with a Husqvarna LGT2654, runs well as long as I remember to adjust the valves.
