Hey folks, I’ve got a tire pressure warning light on , won’t turn off , all my tires are recently rotated & balanced at my local Les Schwab, and I’ve replaced the battery, still on for no apparent reason. Any advice?

One or more of your Tire Pressure Monitor Sensors (TPMS) is probably bad. You can either replace one or all of them (don't forget the spare tire too), or do the TPS disable modification. I chose the latter due to the expense of the TPMS x 5 and installation costs.

Is the light solid or flashing? Or flashing, then eventually solid? Solid with no flashing at any time means one sensor is reporting error/low pressure. Flashing means comminicating/communication error. Often times, a sensor battery is dead, sometimes it's a sensor failure.

Have you used the reset button on the driver side lower dash to reset the TPMS? The Gen 1 came with an archaic system, you basically hold the button to tell it to remember the current values, then it checks for % of skew from those values, IIRC.

The TPMS receiver is typically mounted to the ceiling, top center, just in front of the 3rd brake light. Not important for this, just sharing that extra bit.

Yes, I have hit the reset button on the bottom of steering column, and when I installed new battery, everything reset, including (aftermarket stereo)stereo presets, time, and the tire pressure light flashes on ignition start, then stays on solid. I may just do the bypass.

If it flashes repeatedly at IGN but eventually goes solid after, say, 20+ seconds, I've seen some take 2-3 minutes, then it's a sensor failing to communicate.

Still, I'd try holding down the button for - I think 10 seconds? - just to see if it'll reset. After checking all 4 tires for pressure, of course.

Did you check the pressure on the spare? I've done that one.

The TPMS sensors have to be replaced, most likely. There is no way to just change the batteries in them, as they are sealed.

seriously? Are you saying low pressure on my spare could cause that warning light? I’ll check it out.

Denso from RockAuto are the same as the factory ones, but less than 1/2 the price.

I swapped all mine, but haven’t programmed them yet :frusty:

I really need to get off my ass and get an OBDII tool that will read codes, reset SRS, and allow programming of TPMS for our '20 highlander and my 1GT.
