    hey all,
this is my second build thread. if you're a fan of the early 2nd gen, i'd like to invite you to my 2008 thread in hopes you get some good ideas. it's my forever truck.

now for the business. this thread is focused on my 2022 platinum gasser. the plan is to ride this for maybe 1-2 years then maybe move to a hybrid. since my 08 is supercharged, i feel like i'm missing that extra power the i-force max hybrid would provide. but.....i'm quickly falling for this girl. i likely won't be modding this one as extensively as my 08 since it's a platinum and has a lot of great oem features.

    mods list:
    - westcott anodized preload collar that supports avs tokico shocks.
    - method mr503 machined matte black lip 18's +18 offset (about 1.75" of poke)
    - toyo open country at3 35x12.50r
    - add automotive catalytic theft deterrent
    - oem dashcam
    - oem license plate surround
    - oem black chrome exhaust tip
    - oem ash tray (for trash)
    - oem hitch receiver cover
    - 35% ceramic tint (front)

    mods to do:
    - debadge? (the platinum badging has very slight lift)
    - ceramic coating and ppf? (if i keep this one long term)

build date was jan 3 2022, then jan 7 and finally was built jan 12. from build it went to freight and rail system for delivery to dealer and arrived feb 2. here it is fresh off the truck

    BQLM8755.jpg

    GYKJ8067.jpg

went to pick it up 3hrs later after pdi. i was conflicted if i would let them detail it because i prefer to detail myself but i let them so i can see any imperfections to call out before driving off the lot.

    IMG_5221.jpg

my first mod is a catalytic converter theft deterrent plate from addautomotive. figured with all the thefts out there for cats and this being a brand new truck, parts are gonna be hard to come by until parts production and production can keep up with each other. desert eagle didn't have a 2022 product at the time or i would have went with them. this one isn't as solid.

feel free to make fun of this one. my 08 came with a little ash tray that for 14 years i use as a little trash bucket. so i bought one for the 22. yes, they still make an ashtray for a 2022 vehicle only it's not built in. lol.

    IMG_6017.jpg

and roav dashcam. if you have not seen the interior of the new gen on the upper trims it's worth a look imo. but i'm also used to the most basic interior in my grade trim 08.

the most significant mods so far are the level, wheels and tires. really happy with the setup. some folks are complaining about the ride quality and i see a bit of a correlation with those reports for people running 20's. i went with 18" methods and am super happy with ride quality when i put the truck in comfort mode, which engages avs for a more comfortable ride.

oem black chrome exhaust tip! adds 10hp!!!! it's a sleeve that goes over the existing versus a replacement.

oem dashcam installed. it didn't come with instructions and just had a sticker on the box that said grab the instructions from TIS. had dealer install it so now just need to find the users manual. im happy it's static and not suction cup based. my roav 4k kept falling off every 30-45 days.

also had them take care of 3 recalls and an ECU update! lol
    • 22TA07 (potential failure to display rear image)
    • 22TA05 (rear axle shafts may separate from vehicle during driving!! lol)
    • 22TA04 (pvm potential failure to display rear image)
    • 22TC08 (engine ecu sw update)
last, had them order new door and 4x4 trim badges. door trims are lifting. 4x4 was installed crooked. lol. none of this bothers me btw. i bought a new model year knowing exactly the risks.

Let me see what I have in my stack and maybe I can scan to pdf for you in the meantime. For sure there is a Toyota DashCam app where the files sync to. Thats a good starting place. It (the sd card) overwrites itself of course by default, but there are some settings you can play with.

Hey, I forgot. There is an owners manual in the DashCam App.

Looking good. I absolutely love those wheels, so classic. Would look great on my white truck. Soon as I can convince myself that wheels are a functional upgrade for me and I NEED them, I will pull the trigger lol.

got the dashcam app connected and setup thanks to the earlier post. couple of things to call out.

    1. change that default pw asap! the default pw is a joke but i work in identity management so more paranoid prob than others
    2. the app kept disconnecting in the middle of use. realized that carplay kept auto-connecting which disconnects the app from the dashcam. after temporarily disabling carplay i was able to stay connected and finish configuring the dashcam through the app.

Not a big silver fan, but the silver method wheels with the Celestial Silver looks really nice actually. Good job.

I’m currently looking to upgrade from my Tacoma to a new Platinum in CS. To accommodate the avs and leveling, the Westcott collars seem to be the only option I’m seeing for a lift/leveling. I have to park on a garage for work so a little worried about clearance. Do you know the overall height to the antenna with the Westcott and 35’s?

the information you seek is in this video. https://youtu.be/xFoGgoKting

the tundra in the video does not have avs but if you follow this guidance you will clear likely within an inch +/-. the avs supported kit generally gives 2" front and .75" rear of lift.
