Hello all, Had a question. My family has has our Tundra for a little over a year and a half. We were out camping over July 4th weekend and our truck was hit on the freeway by a car that lost control. Everyone is fine but the driver took off. The damage isn't too bad since it struck the tail end of the truck and the passenger wheel took most of the force. So lucky is that we were able to tow our trailer back home when we returned to the campsite. So it's in the shop now and the insurance company estimated it to be $12K worth of damage. Looks like the Axle housing, tow bar, and passenger side leaf spring were the pricey items. The rest was minor things you would expect in a collision. My question is what else should I tell the shop to double-check? They said they will do a final alignment and drive it around before giving it back. I'm not too worried about that part since besides the alignment off a little when we drove it home and even to the shop shifted and drove fine. I'm more worried about things that may be overlooked and can cause problems later. I.ll bring hum for them to double-check the bearings and hub in case the impact affected it at all. Any other suggestions? thx!

Not sure where you are located, but it probably wouldn't hurt to take it to a very good 4x4 or off-road shop; one that has a technician that comes highly recommended and is 'known' in your area for being the go to guy!

I wouldn't worry too much about anything that is on the 'cosmetic' end of the equation, but just explain what happened and that you just want to make sure nothing important was missed. Really good techs that work for off road shops are particularly good at spotting axle, suspension, and frame damage and may be a good resource for you.

    Good luck!

Not sure if CA his a diminished value state, but I would get my money since the trucks value will go down considerably.
