Great to join this forum as was on the F150 forum for years.

I placed an order for a Limited Supersonic TRD in mid Feb and my dealer is still confirming that the order has not been fulfilled yet. The kicker is that I ordered this in a standard 6 1/2 foot bed.

Do all the specs in my order make this build more difficult to get the order fulfilled in Canada as I’m wondering if I built and ordered some kind of unicorn? I’ve seen others get orders fulfilled but am wondering if it will ever get built?

The dealer did set expectations to be 4-6 months but I assumed that I would get processed shortly. Canadian dealers are keeping their cards close and not telling their customers all information they should give.

    Any advice?

Welcome to the forum. My understanding is no one can actually order a Tundra. The dealer gets random allotments and they hope to get one that has some or most of what you want. They will hopefully call and offer you a truck if it is close to what you requested. You can then accept or pass and wait for the next allotment. They get their allotments from Toyota on the first and fifteenth of each month. Hope this helps. I don’t know that it is handled this way in Canada but know that is how it works in the US. Hope you get one soon.

Welcome to the forum Xfordguy22! @nodak67 has a great post explaining the allocation system. Patience is a virtue as they say. I placed a deposit for my “request” in Oct 2021 and I hope to learn more about possible delivery dates by month’s end. It may be the fall or later before I see my hybrid. Hang in there!

From what I've learned so far the process of getting a truck is probably the same as in the US but we don't get any info along the way. No allocations, no build dates, no VINs. I joined late to the game and have no rush to get it so will wait. I put a deposit on a simple Limited TRD CM short bed since there's no options or packages up here in Canada and was told that I would get it before the end of the year. But honestly I won't be surprised if it'll take longer, much longer. Let's all be patient!

For fun I called some high volume dealerships in Ontario, and the two that I know have honest reputations told me optimistically 18-24 months for a new order. I talked to my current dealership, and being relatively small they have 21 orders in. Unfortunately I am near the bottom of the list. They had 9 allocations in June, but Toyota has told them they will get zero in July, 1 in August and 2 in September. So it looks like a long wait.

Just adding that I ordered a Limited Crewmax with shortbed in early April.

It may be moot at this point in the game for you, but the "best hope" I learned was to inquire if they already have one that is what you want or similar enough for you to be happy (often a different colour) allocated to them but not yet sold. That is what worked for me and it still took 4 months for mine to come in. Depending where you are, shopping several dealers within a days drive to see if any unsold allocations exist at their dealership. They may or may not know the exact builds that are allocated to them depending on how far in advance they get allocated.

Unfortunately with 21 orders in, and 3 allocations coming in the next 3 months - it would have to be one that a few people reject. But it certainly is possible. I told them I was flexible in colour, and they are adding that to my file. But they asked if I would be ok with a completely different model - I said no to that one.

The other dealerships basically told me it is pointless, but this might improve at some point.

Actually a sales person I know just called me back from another dealership and said it is strictly forbidden to take orders when the customer has one in already, maybe a Toyota Canada policy. On the upside, we don’t get dealer markups here.

Ordered 2023 Tundra Platinum CM WCP
I just placed my order today for a Platinum hybrid CM advanced package WCP. I’ve worked with this dealership in Ontario since 2007 same two guys there (5 vehicles now). June 17th they got their allocations. He contacted me then about placing my order, I gave him what I wanted, he told me they had allocations for that.

Seems to me it works alittle different here in Canada, then how the Threads explain about the US allotments and ports. (Example) the add on accessories aren’t done at the ports they are done at the dealer. As Canada doesn’t have the ports like the US.

So I didn’t get a Vin today but was told once my order was in the system a vin would be given to me so I could provide it to my insurance company ( so doesn’t seem like Temp vins are given here in Canada). I didn’t want to take delivery on the truck until the new year. They checked on their allocations for my spec/build and he said the time table that was given, was late 2022 (December) or Jan or 2023. I was aiming for Feb. He said expect/plan for before that. That all being said who knows. I’m happy to wait as I need my two leased vehicles to come due on the later part of the time line.

Also the build we did today was for a 2022 as that was what the system allows for. But 100% it will be a 2023 as the switch happens in November.

Not sure any of my offerings will help anyone, or if it is all just useless info. But that was my experience. I asked all the questions I’ve been reading on this forum. Seems less daunting now. Just happy to have my spot in line

    cheers

sounds like the truth, I expected on my deposit today was just a hold/place my name in the line. Nope it was I “ bought “ the truck today. Did the paper work met with finance

unlike how in the US. “Put my name on the list” here is $500 bucks at 4 dealerships, who can get me one first type idea.

    just my experience
