Does anyone know where to get 5000 on air bags for a 22 Tundra? I have a 7000 lb camper and want to help out the suspension. Thank you

Not sure what you mean by "5000 on air bags" but it seems the few people that have installed bags have used the Firestone Coil-rite 4164 kit. That's what I have but have yet to get them on.

I'm curious to this as well. My 22' pontoon makes me sag like crazy, no bottom out though luckily.

@korslite can you post some feedback when you get them installed? Fitment, compatibility, etc.

Yeah I'll try to remember to do that. Feedback I've solicited through FB group members has been positive on fitment.

You do not need 5000 lb air bags, its a half ton truck with 1700 lbs or less of payload. Get some 1000 or 2000 lb bags.

Everyone who I've ever talked to about 5000 lb bags said they ride like crap unloaded.

What is the weight rating for the OEM air bags? Would it be possible to install the OEM air bags and use an Air Lift wireless controller? Towed a toy hauler for the first time with the Tundra and the sag was bad.

Can anyone confirm fitment of the Firestone Coil-rite 4164? Does the bump stock need to be removed? Also what would be the 2000lb bag equivalent (if anyone knows)?

Can only confirm from others I've talked with through FB groups. They do indeed fit the bump stops inside the coils need to be completely removed rather than cut down like the included instructions. Land Cruiser 80 series springs are another option and can be had in several spring rates from OME.

Super useful info. I ordered a set. Sole purpose is for a truck bed camper. Weighs about 1100-1200 dry. Stock suspension plus these should perform well in anyones expert opinions or past experiences?

My experience with our Four Wheel Camper on my 2020 Tundra was that airbags fix the spring rate issue to support the load but the stock shocks are under damped for the increased spring rate. It's OK but not great. On road performance was fine, off-road or on Baja "roads" we found the stock shocks to be lacking pretty badly.

Awesome. Was it pretty easy to remove the bump stop?

I have yet to install the bags on the '22. Hopefully this weekend. The stops are removed easily though from what I understand.

Edit: I have since installed the kit and followed the included instructions which call for cutting the factory stop down to just the last segment and reinstalling with the air line through the center.

Yeah it looks like you just remove the coil and the stop falls out.

Installed my coil-rite kit over the weekend. I followed the included instructions and cut the factor bumps stop down to only the last segment. This seemed the right fit compared to removing completely like I have heard from another owner. The bump stop also incorporates a plastic spring "isolator" for lack of better term. With it removed the coil could be metal on metal contact with the spring perch of the frame. That didn't seem like a good idea in the long run. The bag also appeared too short to run with the stop completely removed.

This shouldn't be a surprise I suppose since it seems the 3rd Gen runs similar or the same springs as the land cruisers this coil-rite kits is designed for...

That is great information. Did you removed the coil and stop completely to cut and install? Or did you cut and install with everything still on vehicle?

Definitely remove the springs and stops. The instructions in the kit are good and install is straight forward.

Great info, thanks. I had bags on my 2012 and they worked great. I'm on the fence between these and Timbren's. Anyone subscribed try the Timbren's?

Not subscribed but, yes bags way better than big bumpstops. Especially in the 2k flavor.

Out of curiosity where did you run the air line? Straight through the bump stop?

    do you have pictures?

2000 lbs bags. 5000lbs bags are overkill and ride quality suffers a bit.
    Yes, didnt like timbrens.
Air bags and manual fill is about the same cost.

looks like this is the way to go. I have bumpstops completely removed because of spacer in the rear. hopefully this will substitute the 1/3 piece of the bump stop

Yep, straight through the existing hole in the bump stop per the included instructions.

Follow up post now that I've installed the coil-rite 4164 kit and have the camper on the truck...

Install was straight forward following the instructions in the kit including cutting down the factory bump stop and reinstalling along with the bags. Ride quality is good, far better than with the ride-rite kit and leaf springs on previous gen Tundra. The one thing I've noticed that I figure is worth mentioning is that with my Four Wheel Camper shell model (approx 1000#), and 30psi in the bags, I am not able to get back to factory ride height in the rear. It's close visually (didn't measure) but not quite there. Not a big deal but worth mentioning. It's possible the ones Firestone ends up spec'ing for the '22 may end up a tad taller than the 4164 kit meant for Toyota SUVs. That being said, the kit is under $100 and now that the stops are cut down and airlines routed, I could deflate and swap the bags without and disassembly of the suspension.

Best solution for upgrading the payload capacity is to add a set of SuperSprings and replacing the OEM shocks with the Rancho adjustable shocks. With a 3700 lb camper in the bed of my 3/4 ton truck the SuperSprings resulted in the bed being level both without the camper and with the camper. The Rancho shocks I could adjust separately for the two in the front at a medium setting of 5 and the two at the rear axle with the highest setting of 10. When the camper was off the truck I adjusted the rear shocks to a 5 setting.

With most pickups the load limitation is with the tires and these need to be able to support the load. When in a turn more than 50% of the weight is on the outside wheel and so the springs and tire need to handle that increased load or there is going to be pronounced sway.

How's the ride without the bage inflated or with no load on the truck? Is it super stiff?

Rides factory, or VERY close, with 5psi minimum recommended pressure in my opinion. Same is true on our Sequoia with the same kit. Much better than my '20 Tundra with ride-rite bags.

I have the Westcott 2” spacer in the rear, would it be compatible with the Firestone Coil-rite 4164 kit?
