The hybrid loses the back seat underneath storage -

wondering what people are using for storage in the bed. I have seen the swing out storage box designs. I really do not want to drill into the bed. I looked at the truxedo pouch designs. They get poor reviews. Any other options anyone has tried and liked. Thanks

I saw a video the other day about this one, I will be looking at it seriously when we get our tundra.

I wanted a faster vehicle so I also bought a Chevy SS... because 4 door sedans with big V8’s are hilarious.
I’m planning on a Decked drawer too. Only marginally more $$$ than a folding tonneau cover, but considerably more functional.

The main issues with the decked system is it makes the usable bed area so much higher. If you are loading something heavy, that extra height will be a real pain in the ass; me and my wife are short, the extra 4-5 inches my Bed Slide adds has made loading a couple things far more difficult than they should have been, lol. The second problem is the bed pretty much has to stay open, a tonneau cover would leave you with about 6 inches of usable space.

This is the first truck I've owned that didn't come stock with either storage over the wheels in the bed or built in storage bins outside the bed over the rear wheels in the quarter panels. I didn't realize how much I was going to miss this storage!

may i suggest an inexpensive alternative?

utilizing the bed divider board and a Rubbermaid / plastic container
pages 427 - 429 in the owners manual

but i guess it all depends on what your trying to store, and if you have a tonneau cover

I have considered this problem, but given my typical use of the truck bed a Decked drawer system would be an asset 99% of the time.

For those rare instances where I’m hauling heavy, assembled objects that will be a pain to load or unload I will plan to dismount the drawer system if needed. I’ve watched the install and removal video enough times to not be intimidated by it. So if my day is going to involve picking up heavy appliances, or a gun safe, I’ll just take the drawer system out. I’d plan on organizing everything possible into the accessory boxes, so unloading the drawers wouldn’t be too much of a chore.

For the other vast majority of my use the drawer system and ability to keep tools, emergency gear, luggage etc organized, out of the weather, and not taking up space in my cab would be appreciated. The fact all of it will still be easily accessible is excellent.

As long as I have my recovery and tire changing tools, ratchet straps, and a good first aid kit the rest of the space can be used for all sorts of stuff. If you think I won’t use those water proof boxes as suit cases…. think again, my wife will bitch and moan about it but they have handles so they’re doubling as suit cases for road trips. I’ll also plan on using the drawers to haul groceries. Pretty manly uses right? No? Don’t care, those things would make unloading a run to Sam’s Club a ton easier for anything I can cram into them.

Big time Decked fan here, have know the crew there since before they went live and have had one in all my trucks. My brother in law happens to be their head engineer as of a few years ago. Hands down the best system for in bed storage

Funny, grocery shopping is what led me to bed slides twenty some years ago! I bought my first truck, loaded groceries in the covered bed the first week and got home to a mess slammed up against the cab. I immediately thought, there must be a better way!!! I've had some sort of pull out tray / slide in every truck since. I wouldn't have a truck without one.

In saying that, I saw on the Decked web page they seem to have a CargoGlide brand slide as an option with the drawers; that would be a heck of a combo....maybe unnecessary with the drawers though.

I have been using one of the platform tool boxes with two drawers that are each 17 x 14 x 78 inches long. They hold a lot of gear and each drawer has an internal lock. Even if someone gets the tailgate unlocked and open the metal drawers are going to stop them from taking anything. Each drawer has dividers so I can keep gear in its own space. They make shallow drawers as well but I wanted the 14 inches of depth.

    https://truck-tool-box.com/

The platform supports a load of 1000 lbs. When I first installed it in a pickup I bolted it down but then I modified it and cut off the mounting flanges and added stainless eyebolts and use turnbuckles from the eyebolts to the tie-down loops on the sides of the bed. Much easier with the turnbuckles to remove the tool box when I need full use of the bed to haul.

For all my pickup trucks I have added a truck cap which double the volume of stuff I can transport and keeps it protected from the wind and the rain and from thieves. I have the windows covered with curtains and no one can see what is inside the truck. Out of sight means out of mind and I have never had anyone break into the bed of my trucks.

I can have dogs in the back and keep them out of the sun and tranport plants home and not have them get beaten up by the wind and I can put two bicycles in the bed and no worries about them getting legs.

I have also made use of a board between the rear of the wheel wells and the tailgate and used it to keep items placed in the bed from sliding forward. Worked well when I had off-road recovery equipment as it added weight at the rear of the truck which helped with traction and increased stability in turns.

Something else I have found very useful are the plastic collapsible crates. I pop them open and then run bungee cords from one bed tie through the crates and to the bed tie on the opposite side. For a total investment of about $50 I have 4 crates that are 20 x 14 x 10 inches in which to put items and not have it move around in the bed of the truck. This works well for groceries or 1-gallon plants from the nursery. When not needed the sides fold in and the crate is only 2 inches high and takes very little space.

I have decked in my longbed since April, I love it. And I have loaded all kinds of stuff that I thought could be an issue on top. Zero issues just get some good straps and some extra tie downs. I have had fully assembled grills, furniture, concrete, topsoil. U name it, all while my stuff is neatly organized in waterproof drawers.

Very happy with it and the loss of bed space has bot been an issue

Here is what I am using for a storage solution.

    Hi Everyone,
I am new here and have introduced myself on the new member forum. I am modifying my 2022 Tundra (Crew Max, 6.5 Bed) into an overland rig.

The first thing I have done is convert my Gen 4 Ram Decked Bed System to fit my Tundra. You can save a lot of money by implementing this mod. I am always interested in saving some money. I will post a video here of how I did this with step by step instructions. Hope this helps someone. If you like what you see stay tuned because I am taking my Ram AMP bed step and converting it to the Tundra next. We will see how that goes.

Here is a video link if you are interested in a diy on how to do this.
