There is. I had what I thought was faulty sensor somewhere until friend suggested filling up a spare. After doing that, no more light.

    Pretty things
Lotta info out there. The real rub lies in filtration. I've heard that we DO have sensors in the spare....

I need to change oil today, so I'll try to shimmy down to the spare and see what kind of valvestem it has.

Hoping the shop didn't install one or all backwards, as I've read can be an issue.

I really despise tire time as it's one of the only maintenance items I can't do myself in the garage.

Not only did the shop try to charge an extra $300 over what we discussed, but they can't even do the damn job correctly... At a certain point, it saves me to invest in tire balancing gear

What year is your car? I do not believe my spare has one although it could be different spare on a Sequoia :monocle:

Toyota may have changed it in the later years as I have seen a few posts from people who have the later years with no TPMS in the spare.

Yeah, I’ve seen both. I definitely saw a big red X on his scanner tool.

Is there a way to disable that so the computer knows not to look for it? It wasn’t throwing the TPMS light until I replaced the one. And again, they’re tool showed that one communicating.

Is there a way to easily tell if the spare on my 2012 has a TPMS transmitter?

Metal valve stem. Also helps if the spare is mounted with the stem facing down, I didn't do that so I can't tell if mine has a TPMS or not without dropping it.

Try letting air out, check dash and then resuck it back in.

Hey this is dumb but I used to keep a bunch of stray bungees in the bed to tie stuff down. I found these and they're the right length so two span the tie-downs rather than flopping around. They have connections every few inches so they're always the right length.

Had them for a couple of months and love them so wanted to share.

Got my KO2s balanced. Running on 20" TRD sport wheels and 275/60R20s 8 plys. The shop that did them before used a static balance. The new balance is dynamic. It took a ton of weight, but it is so much smoother.

Perhaps they love me so much that they included a tpms into my spare:humble:

in all seriousness though, I've been having intermittent(very often) pressure warning go off for no particular reason that I was almost ready to start replacing sensors. One day I lamented to a friend my problem and he doesn't even have a totota, but he said try checking the spare. And I did! When I took it out and filled it up, warning went out and I have yet to see it come back. It's been like half a year now!:notsure:

When I got my new set of tires put on, I noticed a lot weights were needed to balance them.

On my previous tires, I kept two as back up just in case, I found beads in the tire that I assume were to help balance them without having to use as many weights.

I’ll probably ask next time if they carry those beads.

Do you have a lift or any rubbing issues? Looking to get the same tires on my OEM 20s with 5110s on mid level. Can you post some pictures too?

Almost lost her at work. A 70ft log snapped two cables and rocketed down the hill. About 3/4 the way down, it smacked a tree and changed it's trajectory 45* and aimed right for me. It snapped a couple small trees at the end which scraped my bumper. Thankfully, the big bastard stopped 10ft short.
It was aimed directly at my front tire. If it had hit at speed, it would have wiped out my front end and sent my truck about 15ft down the hill.
For some reason, my mind wasn't on my own safety. When I saw it change direction, I thought "don't hit my truck, don't hit my truck".

Reupholstered my center console... For the 2nd time.

Before, it shows creases from them shipping it to me folded up (steam didn't help), and you can see the outline of the heater:

During, me gluing the edges in after adding 1/4" foam over the heater to pad it a little.

    And after:

I'm going to steam all the leather soon so it should tighten up.

I've now done this project twice and it's one of my least favorite DIYs. It's messy and imperfect and nobody will ever notice it... But at least they won't notice it because it's jacked up.

    Here's the part that worked:

Installed an oil cooler on the Tundra. Wasn't too expensive, spend a little less than $400. Took about a day or so and then I dropped it off to the mechanic to change the Trans fluid and refill.
