Actually my snowmobile gets better gas mileage than my tundra, they’re both about the same, on a good day the tundra will get 18 to the gallon if I’m taking it easy, and my ace 900 4 stroke skidoo will get 20 miles per gallon or more, I always enjoy coming up to the gas pump when I’m riding with friends, I usually put in about half of the gas that they do

I picked up a 19' TRD Sport 4wd last year for this purpose. I have it almost completely built out now with 25k miles on it and 2-3yrs to go until I retire. Plan is to pay it off by then

The dream is a mint 2006 Toyota Tundra Double Cab 4x4 in white, but I love too many cars (old). Need to move out of California for a home with acreage!

Just lost my 2006 Tundra DC 4x4 in Gold. Was my old man ride for another decade, until someone decided to steal it and put it in a ditch.

Picking up a 2016 next week, but a 2006 is still my perfect retirement truck! Not too big, not too small, no fancy stuff. Perfection. Miss it every day and have my eye out for another one as minty.

Right? PERFECT size and just has enough power to tow a light coupe on an aluminum trailer.

I've had this crazy idea for a while to build a CJ5 from scratch using all new aftermarket parts. Just haven't had the space, the time, or the money all at once to do it.

If I decide to keep the 19 Tundra, I’ll buy a 7-8 ish year old GX460 to use for most “car” trips in 2 ish years. I may mod it to be a bit more off road capable, but want the v-8 to tow my boat. Then the Tundra would be down to 4-8k miles a year and out live me.

The other possibility is the hybrid Tundra in 5-6 years or when ever I think they have all the bugs out and just drive that till we both die, and maybe still get a smaller 4x4 for scouting for hunts and general exploring.

I’d say my Tundra - but Ohio doesn’t allow open transport of a casket for a funeral and there is no way I’m retiring before I die - so that makes whatever vehicle hauls my ass to the bone yard “my retirement vehicle”. Local funeral home has a pretty sweet Escalade hearse and had had it a few years so I guess it will be an Escalade.

Seriously - my “last” vehicle will be the one I buy last. There are some I know I will have much longer - my Tundra is among them - but I have way too much time, space and money to project myself ever owning just 1 vehicle. I like variety way too much.

Me and the wife are down to a pandemic low 3 vehicles between us at home now. That’s progress for us. She’s as bad as me though - says I don’t need a 2nd/3rd vehicle - then a week after I get her a new Jeep starts eying the Mach E AND a Hyundai Genesis - stating she can’t decide between one of those 2. At least I keep my cars for years - and am hoping to get to the point of making that decades. She on the other hand seems to have a car a year preference - but last one lasted her 4 years almost - so there is hope still I guess.

    Very tempting....

These range from a low of 45,000 to a top of 68,000. That is one hard pill to swallow.

Pretty good chance it's the '19 Tundra I just bought. Hopefully retirement will be in around 7 years :fingerscrossed: (I'm 60 now) and I tend to keep my Toyota's for quite awhile.

I'd love to have some old American muscle, but just can't justify (or afford) the money they command now.

Maybe devote more time and money to the old Rambler I married into... (My wife has had it since High School)

It ain't fast (which is good 'cuz the brakes are fer shit) but it's fun to cruise up the coast.

I may not be able to justify the classic muscle car either. I really enjoy them (especially modernized ones) but the cost in the past 5-8 years has just went full on crazy.

Same here. His was a 318 car and he dropped in a 340 with a little work done to it. Even with posi that Swinger just couldn’t get off the line well without melting the tires.

Those mopars were strong running cars.

It’s hard to look at cost when someone can pick up a 550hp+ to the wheels Z06 that has had the heads worked to fix the valve guide issue on the 7L motors.

Both of these cars were built by Race Proven Motorsports and probably run very strong.

I've got an aunt and uncle who race a few Nova's. A mid 60's Chevy II is my favorite car from that era.

Relative to the C6 Z06’s, I had a 2006 that I bought used out of warranty about the time they started blowing up. Chevy first came out with a diagnosis that was a tech “listening” to a running LS7. It was a joke.
When Chevy admitted a valve guide machining geometry error (manufacturing error) they announced all cars under warranty currently would be covered (duh) and those outside mfg warranty were SOL. I drove the car a few months more as it drove me crazy listening for a valve tic and even picking up a pebble in a tire sounded like the beginning of a grenade.
Replacement engine was about 1/2 the value of the car, so I sold it.
I will say that those Vettes were race cars in street clothing and a blast. I heard they do 160 with a 4th gear pull:cool:

Something more economical than my Tundra. To me throwing money into the gas tank is not in my retirement plan. Will stick with Toyota for sure. Hopefully they will make some updates to the Tundra hybrid to squeeze out some mpg. Or I’ll be looking at the new Tacoma with the 4cyl turbo.

2700 lbs from the factory. Stuff a powerful motor under the hood….hold on.

We had a girl in HS that had a 1969 Nova and we could never beat her on the track. Her dad had a 64 Chevy II that was one of the fastest cars I have driven in the 1320. They would build motors and cars together. Very cool relationship. By the time we were seniors, hell we were asking her for advice.

They are really stupid fun/fast cars. Almost should be illegal. Almost. :D

If I go with the C6Z06 (wife wants a C8) the heads will be replaced asap. While in there, if not done already…might as well do camshaft/headers/dyno tune.

My retirement vehicle was going to be my old 2000 4Runner SR5 that I had bought back in 2004 but my wife had other ideas about that. We have bought a few new vehicles throughout our time together as we were raising our kids and they were always for her to drive so when I retired we bought my 1st new vehicle for me. My 2021 SR5 Tundra TRD. While I was still working I had the opportunity to buy my dream car by buying a few other collector cars, fixing them up one at a time and selling them until I was able to afford the one I really wanted: 1964 Corvette Stingray powered by ZZ-4, backed up by a Richmond 6 speed. The car is also equipped with a set of Hooker Super Comp. headers, Flow Master exhaust and Vette Brakes disk conversion on all 4 corners with American Racing polished aluminum wheels.
